Check out my apple harvest this morning! It’s my third from just 2 lil trees, there’ll be a fourth - and local wildlife has enjoyed half again as many 🦌. 1st photo are Royal Gala, 2nd are Granny Smith. I didn’t know Granny Smiths would turn red if left on the tree? #nm#nmgarden
@StolenStitches Magicking fluffy camel hair yarn - from a deep stash dive - into Lane Shawl by All Knit Up Designs. Happy the weather is finally cool enough to knit this, and happy to finally find the right project for yarn I’ve had for almost a decade lol, win-win.
Well I just got my booster yesterday - took me almost 2 weeks to get the appointment - and I asked for, and got, a brand new vaccine card. Not ready to let it go, I suppose.
The once-critical white COVID-19 vaccination cards are being phased out. Vaccines are not being distributed by the federal government anymore, so the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has stopped printing new cards. https://t.co/k7f6NVit6w
JUST NOW: Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias SILENCES Lindsey Graham during a hearing on Republican book banning:
He says it PERFECTLY. 👇
“Don’t let one parent who disagrees with a certain world view determine whether a book should be in a library.
That goes against the very point of our Democracy, (it hinders) the means to educate our youth, and to allow them to think for themselves.”
Illinois is the first state to enact a law that requires state libraries uphold a pledge not to ban material because of partisan disapproval.
Smash that heart if you agree books should be READ and not BANNED! 💙
Following the shooting at UNC the school paper made this the front page- it’s texts from students on campus during the shooting. It doesn’t have to be this way but Republicans in North Carolina have loosened gun laws.
Remember when Rudy Giuliani tried to "not contest" the facts alleged in Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss's defamation suit while preserving certain defenses/appeal rights? That story did not end well for him today. 1/
Think July was hot in the desert SW? Aug says hold my beer. A monster heat dome likely by next weekend - the most intense yet this summer. Magenta indicates where all-time record heights are forecast. This on top of PHX so far beating its hottest month on record by almost 4F!! 1/
If you’re staying on Twitter, I want to follow you. We need to stick together! #FBR#NAFO

It’s interesting how differently different people use Twitter. Parts of this op-ed are worth reading (Zimbabwe) and parts are not (Roman Coliseum) … but even for my non-career usage, a Twitter meltdown will leave an unfillable info-hole. https://t.co/K7BHumcUP2
Places to sit. Corners to nurse babies. Public restrooms. Exhibits to pique your curiosity. A beautiful rooftop garden to calm you that is also stormwater infrastructure. Resources. Live music and lectures. Books and more books. 📚 All free! 💫 The library is a magical place. 💫
The Pioneer Woman made “enchiladas” by pouring old El Paso sauce on taquitos then added cheese. She mentioned Albuquerque and it just made me more upset. #nmtrue
@inezrussell I make lemon balm syrup, basically by steeping fresh leaves in a simple syrup (1:1 sugar/water). Keeps forever, great in tea, lemonade & cocktails
@jimmybeanswool I knit an “octopus house” with 28 gauge copper wire held with sequined thread 🤪 (This was a donation to the Little House fundraiser auction for OffCenter Art in #ABQ.)
@alisoncook I found this: “Trimming back a Mexican palm frond skirt to the bark not only reveals the trunk of the tree, but eliminates the risk that it harbors pests. The shaggy fronds are favorite habitats of rats, snakes and scorpions. The dead material is also a fire hazard.”
A banner spring for my evening primroses. They're wildflowers, but these were intentionally planted > 12 years ago by the original owner. There are a million reasons NOT to plant these in your yard, but they’re so pretty, and our environment is so harsh, I just let them be.
