It was also believed that swans are mute all their lives, until the moment of their death, when they burst into exquisite, mournful song - it's from here that the word 'swansong' for a final performance was born.
A final consideration from last week's word-mindful exercise. Taking that first step on a new road can be daunting unless standing still has become stagnation. #mindfulness#positivethinking#motivation
@tanyajwright Just spent the week mindful of the word "step" and this beautifully illustrates the range of emotion and possibilities that contemplation inspired.
Did you "step up" or "step down", "step forward" or "step back"? Was it a backward step driven by fear or did you take a step back to consider things better? And if you change the way you describe it does it change how it feels?
So was your first reaction the disappointment of “only one chocolate left” or the upbeat thought “only two weeks until my holiday”? And who considered the unique treasure of “the one and only”? #mindfulness#psychology#psychotherapy#selfawareness
The word of the week is "ONLY". Is it a positive word or not? Emotional? Powerful? Notice your first reaction and then look for alternative uses, examples, connotations.

Everything is a process. Wouldn’t a nice, progressive straight line be great!? But our reality is always one that shifts, changes and moves around. It can feel really hard to ‘trust the process’ sometimes too. #recovery#counselling#psychotherapy
