This is what partisan media creates. Thoroughly misleading headlines to stoke fear and anger.

Here is what the paper actually said:

Short Version:
For every increase in undocumented immigrant workers in an area equal to 1% of the local area's initial employment, there was a 0.96% increase in jobs, a 2.2% increase in home prices, a 1.4% increase in rents, and a 4.5% decrease in government assistance spending.

Longer Version:

-From March 2021 to March 2024, undocumented immigrants increased the median metro area home price by 2.9% and rent by 1.9%

-For every 100 additional unauthorized immigrant workers entering the area, local employment increased by ~96 jobs. That doesn't mean all of those jobs went to undocumented immigrants. It only means how many jobs were created because of their arrival.

-There was no decrease in local wages from those immigrants and new jobs.

-For every 1% of that immigrant-driven increase in local employment, government spending on assistance programs decreased by 4.5%.

-The study also specifically called out the rapid and significant decline in undocumented immigrants arriving in America in 2024, before the election and before Trump ever took office.

It is also important to note that this is a working paper. It is a preliminary draft and represents the views of the authors, not official Fed policy.

One point not included in the study is that crime rates also plummeted during this time frame.

So where did the headline come from?

That 30% of the total increase in home prices during that time can be attributed to the arrival of undocumented immigrants. Not that home prices increased by 30% because of undocumented immigrants.

Let's be better than this and discuss the facts, not spin, exaggeration, and lies.

Musk, the world’s richest man, a federal contractor with billions in government business, auditing the government that pays him, accountable to no voter anywhere. 

Even Musk now says he wouldn’t do it again. The guy who ran it calls it a mistake.

Government reform was there for the taking. Both parties know federal technology is outdated. Both parties know waste exists. Fixing it required serious people working with career civil servants who know where the problems actually are. Instead we got a chainsaw, a photo op, and years of lost expertise we now have to rebuild.

Now Trump’s budget director says there will be no final accounting or receipts. They promised transparency and they’re closing up shop in the dark.

Henrico County, Virginia has 37 data centers, which use immense amounts of electricity.

But at the end of June as a heat wave approach the county asked schools and government workers to cut back on electricity use.

County employees were asked to do things like "Turn off lights" and "Adjust blinds" while data center companies, which receive massive tax breaks, have not been asked to conserve electricity at all.
