(4/5) Special shoutout to @ManFlyFacility for the outreach they do on behalf of the #drosophila community. Also see this special issue on #scicomm in fundamental research: https://t.co/bqZg3jW0Xw
@Poppi62 talks about the outreach resources that Manchester fly facility have generated. Very useful resources that we use all the time in our outreach programs. As he says, use these, don't reinvent the wheel #Dros21
I have signed up to teach a high school class about my #drosophila research, guess how excited I am to prepare my lecture based on @Poppi62@ManFlyFacility resources 😍
What a fabulous way to start the week: CRISPR-induced HDR seems to have been successful thanks to the combined efforts of the @UoM_GEU & @ManFlyFacility teams! Isn't this larva gorgeous? ❤
Yesterday I paralysed #flies with my armpits (temperature NOT smell) & shook others till they had epileptic fits. They all recovered, don’t worry. These are some of the mutated #Drosophila strains that help researchers understand the what/how/why of these biological responses.
Today, @DrosLabUI is delighted to host a primary 5 student, Honour Ayooluwa from The Olives International School, Ibadan Nigeria via the program A Day out of School. Many Thanks to all the facilitators. @ManFlyFacility@Poppi62
Ahead of Monday's Open Research Forum we're pleased to share two case studies of Manchester researchers engaging with open research. First up is @Poppi62 and Sanjai Patel on how they build science communication with the public into research: https://t.co/9RX29DHGkp #UoMORF18
@ManFlyFacility Our year 5 & 6 had a fascinating day today learning about the fruit fly, mutations and evolution. The level of brain power used by these children today was astounding. Thanks @Poppi62 for organising a superb day of investigation. #superflyguy
