@eliotranch Partly it's politics but much of it is that they have little contact with real life so they don't understand the country as a whole.
Elites spend their time with other elites, so they have no idea what it's like to live on an estate amongst extremely dysfunctional people
@TheGhostSleepi1 Exile is a good option for those who care about equity. Regardless of nationality or ethnicity, if you're not conducive to the public good, you're off to St Helena
@emergenteffects That constituency will be well aware of Henry. It'll get brought up on the doorstep. He'll probably get heckled about it if he doesn't say something decent
@lucymarionbrown@BasedNorthmathr A few months ago he said "when I pull a lever [of power], nothing happens".
No attempt to explain why, or offer any solutions. He just accepted this as the natural state of affairs and moved on.
@TheGhostSleepi1 I doubt it. The BBC are currently framing the story around its impacts on Sikhs. So something that should be damning for wokeness is already being spun in the direction of woke
@BasedNorthmathr After the Harehills riots a couple of years ago, instigated by Romani gypsies, an MP tried to give the local paper a soundbite about the Romanis but struggled to find anything specific that they've achieved, so he said they "contribute to diversity". Damned with faint praise.
@willsolfiac Good way of putting it. Saying "sorry, you can't have a visa" is perfectly reasonable thing, yet decades of propaganda have made many people think that it's a statement of pure evil
@JaroslavH@echetus Yeah it definitely does happen. I've noticed that genuine ex forces tend to be the "down on your luck homeless" rather than "entrenched homeless" (who I mostly worked with).
The ones who have been doing heroin and crack for 25 years will say anything to get sympathy
@ScottGoetz_ I could not think of a more effective way of ending the broad public support for social housing, than letting asylum seekers and Boriswavers into council houses en masse, with no credible means of stanching the flow
@willsolfiac I wonder if there's any surveys that compare the Skilled Worker list and the general public's views on what they consider to be skilled labour
@LerkingLerking@hoffman_noa As usual, cowboys will quickly set up new firms, do a half arsed job, and liquidate as soon as the first small claims court summons drops through the letterbox. Then there will be a redress scheme to bail everyone out.
