Today is day two of the #twittertakeover for #wrd2021 and today we are tweeting all things Interventional Radiology (IR) Here are some of the team! @SCoRMembers
IR is a sub speciality of Radiology, we perform patient centred, image-guided, minimally invasive procedures. The range of conditions which can be treated by IR is enormous and continually expanding! @SCoRMembers#wrd2021
This is one of our Hybrid Theatres at Wythenshawe Hospital. We can perform a full range of IR procedures, surgical operations or allow surgery and state of the art imaging to be undertaken simultaneously @SCoRMembers#wrd2021#TeamWorkMakesTheDreamWork
Today we randomised patient 470 to BASIL-3 (thank you Manchester!). Just 7 patients to go to target of 477. We intend to keep randomising to midnight 31 August. If we overshoot 477 ... great. Thanks everyone for your support!!!!

Interventional radiology - image guided surgery needs investment in their own daycase units to manage patients left furloughed during COVID-19. Daycase treatments, image guided, minimally invasive, low morbidity. IR can solve many pending issues @BSIR_News@NHSEngland@sloumarsh
Carrying on with the hepatic theme from yesterday, here are a couple of CT images demonstrating acute Budd-Chiari Syndrome. The CT findings can be subtle but the triad of acute abdominal pain, ascites and hepatomegaly must alter the reporting radiologist.
Start of the week from Manchester ( @ukradiologist ) with a case demonstrating BRTO. Bleeding gastric varices are always challenging and BRTO can be life saving. Knowledge of anatomy, variants and familiarity with Histracryl is vital ! @nirmalkakani @Ed_Lake @Rosie1878
