A father has posted a video of his daughter enjoying a cardboard swing he made for her in their displacement shelter in Gaza. He described it as a ‘small moment of happiness’ amid the suffering.
A post claiming migrants crossing the Channel who are rescued by the RNLI or Border Force automatically become refugees has been shared over a thousand times on Facebook.
But this isn’t true. Refugee status is only granted after a successful asylum claim.

Please retweet, urgent home needed for 12 yr old ROSIE Terrier 💔💔💔 Rosie is another of our new arrivals from the council pound. #YORKSHIRE#UK She hadn’t had any offers of help, and we just couldn’t leave her there at her age.
Rosie is struggling in kennels - she’s started to put the brakes on and refuse to come back into her kennel which is just heartbreaking, but who can blame her - she shouldn’t be homeless at her age and be having to go into a kennel. She is safe with us, but desperately unhappy and we won’t sit back and let her struggle.
We URGENTLY need a foster home for Rosie ideally with a view to adoption (but not essential).
Rosie needs a quieter home where she will get plenty of company, older children upwards, no cats, possibly a very calm smaller older dog as she just ignores dogs . The only time we’ve heard her bark is at a horse - she likes to tell them that she might only be small but she is a terrier after all .
If you can help us to get this gorgeous little old lady out of kennels, please get in touch ASAP!!
Or please just share to help Rosie.

We're a bonded pair, looking for a forever home where we can continue our journey together, side by side. We haven't had much chance to live life as normal dogs, so we're hoping to find an understanding and kind family who is willing to let us take things at our own pace.
There's potential for us to share a home with dogs, cats, or small furry animals following a successful introduction, and we can also live with children aged 14+.
We'd like to find a quiet home without too many people coming and going. It might take us a little time to adjust, with patience and an understanding of boundaries, we will blossom into the most amazing companions. One thing we would love in our new home is a secure garden where we can safely potter about, play and relax.
Despite our complex background, we have so much love to give. We just need someone special to help us understand what life can be like.
If that sounds like you, please apply to adopt us on our profile https://t.co/I1o8DXTX7x

Please retweet to help Bonnie and Jess find a FOSTER home together #LANCASHIRE#UK Bonnie and Jess have spent 12 years perfecting their partnership. Jess is the navigator, and you could argue that Bonnie’s the passenger princess
They’ve got the system absolutely nailed as Bonnie is blind and relies heavily on her sister to show her where life’s important things are. You know, sofas. Blankets. Food bowls. More sofas and whatnot.
DETAILS OR APPLY BELOW 👇👇👇

Jess takes her role very seriously when she remembers she’s ran off in a giddy whirl without realising. She has spent years guiding Bonnie through life and can usually be found making sure her sister knows exactly where she’s going
The girls are now looking for a forever foster home together, because after 12 years of friendship, teamwork and general sisterly nonsense, separating them simply isn’t an option
They’re not asking for much, just a comfy sofa a warm lap to cosy up on, and a few gentle potters about
What they would like most though is people who’ll love them exactly as they are
These lovely ladies deserve somewhere to spend their golden years being spoiled rotten, snoozing in sunbeams and reminding everyone that growing old doesn’t stop you being adorable
If you’ve got room in your home and your heart for two very special girls, Bonnie and Jess would love to meet you and cuddle up to their new hooman bestfriend
And if you’re wondering whether two senior dogs can fill a house with love….The answer is absolutely yes

@BBCWomansHour I am going to say this plainly: today’s interview was disgraceful.
I was invited to speak about IPP — a sentence that has destroyed the lives of prisoners and families for years. Yet I was rushed, repeatedly cut short and never given the opportunity to say what I needed to say about Andy Burnham’s announcement and what must happen next.
And had I known Robert Buckland was going to be part of the discussion, I would have seriously reconsidered doing the interview. I have no interest in sharing a platform that allows former Justice Ministers to speak about IPP when, in my view, those in positions of power had opportunities to address this injustice and failed to do so.
I am not interested in political point-scoring. I am interested in justice for the people who have been trapped under IPP for years and the families who have suffered alongside them.
You cannot invite a campaigner who has spent years fighting this injustice and then silence them when they finally get the opportunity to speak.
I will not be silenced. IPP must end — and it must end properly, retrospectively, for those already trapped by it.

@WhiteHouse Mmmm that’s a hard no, I am STILL and will always be called Lake ONTARIO. A name given to me thousands of years ago well before there was a USA or Canada. So GOOD TRY. 🌊🌊🌊🌊
@WhiteHouse The craziest thing about this stupid shit is that Donald Trump is named tens of thousands of times in the Epstein files he’s still refusing to release fully.
The prison population rose again this week and now stands at 86,843. This time last week there were 121 fewer people in prison.
The prison estate should not hold more than 81,684 people, the population currently exceeds this level by 5,159.

We are deeply disturbed by reports of the arrest of Dr Dima Mohammed Amin, a specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology, from her home in the West Bank, Palestine. Dr Dima is the latest victim in Israel's systematic campaign of hunting down and detaining Palestinian medics.
She joins Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, Dr Iyad Al-Rantisi, Dr Mohammed Obeid and scores of others in arbitrary Israeli detention. They have not been charged with any offence; they were simply treating patients. That is not a crime.
We demand the immediate and unconditional release of all healthcare workers arbitrarily detained by Israeli forces.
" Political leaders are terrified of looking soft on crime – so they have consistently kicked the IPP can down the road. Yet IPP sentences are universally recognised as unjust. Not a single mainstream politician defends this barbaric sentence."

1.
UNGRIPP welcomes the Government’s review of IPP sentences — but after years of promises, we will judge it by what it delivers.
IPP was abolished in 2012, yet 2,271 people remained imprisoned under IPP in June 2026. 99% had passed their original tariff expiry date.
People with severe mental illness who need urgent treatment are being remanded to prison and left waiting excessive periods for hospital places.
Last month, @charlie_taylor6 wrote to ministers calling for urgent action
