A man with 800+ CIBIL wants ₹53,000 Cr loan from IDBI to buy IDBI Bank itself.

Bank made ₹30,000+ Cr profit in 5 years. He’ll repay in 7 years from the same profits.
“Lend me money to buy you, I’ll pay you back from your own earnings.”

Peak shamelessness.

Read More: https://t.co/Uvxeqjx9Hc

The two-day nationwide strike by IDBI Bank employees against the proposed Fairfax deal has concluded, but the agitation is far from over.

UFIOE will meet on November 10 to decide its next course of action, including wider coordination with banking unions.

Meanwhile, questions over the ₹52,878-crore transaction, valuation process and employee safeguards remain.

What happens next in the IDBI Bank-Fairfax deal?

IDBI’S OWN MONEY TO FUND ITS OWN TAKEOVER?
Fairfax reportedly plans to use ₹28,300 crore generated from IDBI’s asset transactions to finance its acquisition of IDBI Bank.
Is this genuine investment or a takeover funded by IDBI’s own resources?
Government must Answer

One line in the Government’s own clarification deserves more attention than it got.

PIB, 29 Oct 2026 (Release ID 2330284):

“The Business Valuation is always done through the Transaction Adviser as per the protocol.”

Think about what that means.

The Transaction Adviser is the firm hired to run the sale and take it to closing. The same firm, through experts it appointed itself, produced the valuation that told the Government whether the bid was fair. That valuation compared IDBI only with public sector banks and set the ₹75.99 benchmark that Fairfax’s ₹81 then cleared.

I am not alleging anything against any firm. Protocol may well allow it. But in any audit, in any bank, we separate the one who makes the deal from the one who checks it. That is the first lesson of internal control — and every banker learns it in the first year.

If the valuation is sound, an independent second look costs nothing and settles everything.

The ask remains simple and fair:

👉Publish the KPMG and BDO valuation reports.

👉Let an independent valuer, with no role in running the sale, review them before any further step.

Transparency is not opposition to reform.
It is what makes a reform credible.

An urgent appeal to all SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD associations and unions!
DIPAM's official clarification raises serious concerns about the future of reservation safeguards in IDBI Bank following privatisation.
This is not just an IDBI employees' issue; it concerns social justice and constitutional rights.
