Rajasthan MP lashes out at Centre for @airindia flight delay to Delhi which made him miss start of Parl session: MP and founder of Rashtriya Loktantra Party, Hanuman Beniwal, on Monday lashed out at the Centre alleging it had no control over airline operations and punctuality. His outburst followed a 94-minute delay by an Air India flight from Jaipur to Delhi which forced him to miss the start of the Parliament morning session.
The Nagaur MP took to X and charged that PM Narendra Modi and the Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu remained silent on the issue of flight delays.
AI 1834 was scheduled to depart at 8.50 am from Terminal 2 of Jaipur airport but it took off only at 10.24 am. It arrived at Delhi's IGIA only at 11 29 am instead of its scheduled time of 9.45 am. Beniwal planned to reach Delhi before the 11 am session and have a round of talks with opposition MPs.The delay by an incoming aircraft had caused the delay, said Air India.
Lashing out at the Centre for frequent flight delays and poor management of the aviation industry, Beniwal wrote, тАЬIt appears that the central government had lost effective control over airline operations and flight punctuality. Ensuring accountability in the aviation sector and respecting passengers' time was the Centre's responsibility and could not be ignored.тАЭ
Tagging Air India, the MP alleged that the airline's flights were frequently delayed, but the government neither held it accountable nor took steps to improve the situation.
Air India in its response said, тАЬFlight AI 1834 has been delayed due to the late arrival of the incoming aircraft. Our colleagues at the airport are doing their best to minimise the inconvenience and preparations for departure are underway.тАЭ
An airport source at Jaipur brushed off the incident as a minor issue.
