Trump is grossly abusing his power to raid the home of Rep. Omar. He has repeatedly attacked her, Somali Americans, and Minnesotans.
@Ilhan has done nothing to justify a pre-dawn raid ahead of the election. I stand with my sister always.
I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation.
I will not be silenced.
Today, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, and every day, we honor the first peoples of these lands and celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Tribal Nations.
One fun thing about @StephenM's targeting of @Ilhan is that she has an OBVIOUS selective prosecution claim given the confessions African immigrant @elonmusk has made about HIS OWN immigration fraud.
The government said 430 trees were removed from East Potomac over the weekend.
Judge: "On what universe did anyone in your office think this was acceptable?"
Government: "Your honor we did our best."
Judge: "No you did not do your best. You did your absolute worst."
When Ukraine destroys Russian data centers, hoards of aggressive right-wing bots disappear, and Twitter becomes much friendlier. Isn’t that interesting? So much of our politics is driven by the internet, and so much of the internet is driven by Russians who want to hurt us. Shouldn’t we do something about that, given that we know it?
If this is what the Trump administration is doing to hundreds of perfectly healthy mature trees in Washington, D.C. in broad daylight, imagine what they're doing to our national forests, protected public lands, and the Arctic Refuge.
My uncle noticed his monthly water and sewage bill jumped from $85 to $290 over the last six months, even though his family didn't fill a single pool or leak a gallon.
He called the municipal water board to report what he assumed was a meter error.
The clerk explained that the city sold the local water treatment facility and underground main grid to an infrastructure equity fund last year to cover municipal budget deficits.
When my uncle asked why that tripled his rate, she told him:
"The private operator added a quarterly 'grid modernization surcharge' and an 'infrastructure maintenance access fee' to every residential account."
Nothing about the pipes, pressure, or water quality improved.
Private equity isn't just buying houses and daycares anymore.
They are acquiring local utility monopolies so they can bill working families a mandatory tax on drinking water and flushing the toilet.
HAPPENING NOW: Judge Reyes is furious. She has repeatedly told the government to inform her before any major demolition work was done on the golf course. The abrupt removal of 500 trees, without notice, "has cost the government all of its credibility" in this case.
Sad to see this. Hopefully the taste/smell returns. Definitely a telltale sign of Covid, lot of the at-home tests are unreliable. This variant is wicked.
I’m still dealing with chronic health issues from my 2023 Covid infection, as are many others. I hope you’re able to recover well. Rest like it’s a full-time job, may take awhile to get back to normal activity.
There are several flaws in this @NYT piece about Jeffrey Epstein's death. The biggest, however, is the reporters ignore the fact that someone else didn't need to get into that unit to kill him. The unit was filled with inmates capable of harming him -- and they were coming and going all day and even into the night. Epstein had a number on his back from the day he got there. The cameras weren't recording. It's simple to just leave a door unlocked and pay someone already on the inside to kill him. It remains frustrating that the Times fails to adequately address (with its enormous resources that I don't have) -- the massive corruption and fabricated reports in that facility that happened that night. The Times would have you believe that it was just accidental that he was left alone in his cell, and that killing him would have required a massive number of people. That simply is not true. https://t.co/9EzgykiLaK via @YouTube
An important bit of immigration law relevant here; Section 212(k) of the INA already creates a waiver by which immigrants who obtain status through fraud that they didn't know about can avoid consequences like losing a green card.
So this is *even weaker* than it already seems.
6/ In other words Trump makes the world more dangerous by extending two wars and gets nothing in return, not even for himself (unless there was a side deal, which can’t be ruled out).
5/ Trump got his pocket picked as usual but the money is ours and the deeper price is the visible shift of US policy to support Russia’s war of aggression.
4/ But since Russia and Iran are allies, the shift in US policy and any US taxpayer money that Trump gives Putin will help both the Russian war on Ukraine as well as the regime in Iran.
