We’re debating this again?
Fahrenheit is the best temperature scale for reporting weather information. Period.
Recall that the Celsius temperature scale was designed with water in mind:
🧊 0° was set as the freezing point of pure water at a pressure of 1 atmosphere (1013.25 hPa).
🫧 100° was set at the boiling point of pure water at 1 atmosphere.
The scale was calibrated from there and divided into units of ten [like the rest of the metric system]. This is why most people outside the U.S. prefer metric because units are based on increments of ten. Easy enough.
And because of that, both Celsius and Kelvin are ideal to work with for scientific calculations. That much I agree with. But beyond that application, Celsius does not make sense. We don't live in water, so using a scale that was designed with the freezing and boiling points of water in mind to quantify air temperature is dumb.
If you really think about it, the lowest air temperature that most people living in the mid-latitudes experience is ~20°F in the middle of winter and the highest is ~90°F during summer. Thus, a scale of 0–100 makes more sense here.
🥶 0°F is really COLD
🥵 100°F is very HOT
A temperature of 0°F can be thought of as it being 0% hot outside (even though temperature is not actually a measure of how hot or cold something is; it's a measure of average molecular motion), and a temperature of 100°F can be thought of as 100% hot. Anything that is above or below that is very extreme.
The Fahrenheit scale is better calibrated for human comfort.
Case in point,
• At 0°C, pure water freezes and it is cold outside. 🧊
• At 100°C, you’re dead. ⚰️
And,
• At 0 K, you’re dead. ⚰️
• At 100 K, you’re still dead. ⚰️
Thus, degrees Celsius and Kelvin make sense for scientific applications. But the imperial system is much more useful for reporting weather information. Celsius is also reported in decimals; Fahrenheit is reported in nice whole numbers. That’s easier to work with.
@SecGenNATO@vonderleyen@eucopresident It was a pathetic shitshow in Ankara. Ofc with such people in charge this is entirely logical. Hopefully EU and NATO die soon.
🇷🇺🇺🇦 "In the 21st century, you can't attack another country like the Russians did with Ukraine. It's just madness. This is a scenario from the 19th or 20th century. We don't do this anymore in mature democracies in the 21st century"

@cbalfer@DougAMacgregor Oh yeah, the Patriot missiles are doing great against hypersonic missiles...😅 As if there will be a single missile manufactured...

@DougAMacgregor I thought about something like this when the fascist covid measures were imposed. But I saw far too many sheep that followed and do to this day...
This Vet brilliantly exposes the evils of US imperialism:
“The recruitment tool of the US military is to go to impoverished areas and offer things America doesn’t offer you like housing, healthcare, and income. We offer soldiers socialism to go abroad & defend capitalism.”
How do Americans not grasp how evil this is? The U.S. intentionally keeps its own people poor so they’re forced to enlist in the army to blow up innocent people in other countries, all to defend a capitalist system that makes the rich even richer.
When you defend US capitalism, you are defending a system that deprives your own people healthcare and housing so they’ll murder people abroad and fight in endless wars to ensure US corporations can plunder and extract other countries’ resources.
This is why we fight to end capitalism and build a world where no one is exploited or bombed to make another person rich. A world where the economy is based on meeting social needs and caring for the commons instead of endlessly exploiting others for profit.

Who truly started the war, and who's now claiming to stop it? This eye-opening clip reveals the hidden truths behind U.S political maneuvers and double games.
