“Do You Support Israel’s Right to Exist?” Mehdi Hasan FIRES BACK
Mehdi Hasan: I've been debating hardcore Zionists, Israeli supporters of Israel, for years. And the conversation always comes back to one talking point:
“Do you, or do you not support Israel’s right to exist?”
If you don't, you're an extremist, you're an anti-Semite, you want to wipe Israel and millions of Israeli Jews off the map.
But you don't have to concede on this point. It's a bullshit argument.
Number one: Right to exist where?
Israel is the only country in the world that refuses to define its borders.
So if you want me to recognize Israel's right to exist, does that extend into Gaza, the West Bank, the Golan Heights, East Jerusalem all considered illegally occupied territory under international law?
So, right to exist where?
Number two: What is this right to exist? Where does it come from?
States don't have a right to exist. People, individuals have a right to exist. Human beings have that right. Not states, not countries.
The USSR broke up into Russia and 14 other states. Yugoslavia broke up. Czechoslovakia split into Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
What happened to their “right to exist”?
People have rights, not states.
And number three: If there is a right to exist, does Palestine have a right to exist?
Israel exists. It's a country with sovereignty, it's on the map.
The idea that in a world where Israel is genociding the Palestinians in Gaza, ethnically cleansing them in the West Bank, and blocking their legal right to return the idea that Israel's right to exist is the one we should be concerned about, and not Palestine's, is both ridiculous and, let's be honest, racist.
“Who do you believe? Them… or Benjamin Netanyahu?”
@mehdirhasan names the UN officials, human rights and aid groups, prominent Israelis and medical organizations that have accused Israel of committing war crimes, ethnic cleansing, genocide and starvation - all in 60 seconds.
Israeli soldiers are reportedly torturing Dr Abu Safya --a pediatrician, for God's sake!
Without strong pressure on Israel, these may could be his last hours.

A teenager holding a white flag shot down from a quadcopter in his own home. A newborn baby shot in the head while breastfeeding inside a tent. These are some of the horrific accounts of Israel’s targeting of Palestinian children from the UN’s latest report. @mehdirhasan shares:
The exhibit titled, “Palestine Uprooted: Nakba Past and Present” at the Canadian human rights museum in Winnipeg opens tonight. The online exhibit is now live for viewing: https://t.co/yHcFfIZYZx
Israeli forces have killed over 20,000 children & injured 44,000 more since 7 Oct. 2023, Srinivasan Muralidhar, chair of the @UN Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory & Israel, told reporters today. #HRC62

Join us at the Shut Down CANSEC protest this upcoming Thursday in Ottawa. Photo from last year’s protest.
What is CANSEC?
CANSEC is promoted as “Canada’s leading defence, security & emerging technology event” when in reality, it is a marketplace for mass death. The 300+ companies invited to this event fuel genocide, destruction, and destruction of land from Palestine to Lebanon, Iran, Yemen, Sudan, Congo, the Philippines and Wet’suwet’en territory.
Some of the exhibitors include Elbit Systems, manufacturer of killer Hermes 450 and 900 drones; Roshel Inc., Canadian manufacturer of armored vehicles used by Israel to torture, terrorize and execute Palestinians in the Occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem (and our neighbours in the United States where ICE has used these vehicles to terrorize community members in Minneapolis); and, U.S.-based Lockheed Martin, the biggest weapons company in the world and primary manufacturer of F-35 fighter jet used by Israel in Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, and Yemen.

A few days ago, the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (@ICJPalestine) Canada in collaboration with Just Peace Advocates has formally requested that the Canada Border Services Agency deny entry to representatives of Israeli arms manufacturers Elbit Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries seeking to attend CANSEC 2026 in Ottawa.
Our taxpayer dollars in Canada should be going to support public healthcare, education, childcare, and so many other services for collective wellbeing and community support. Not to fund and invest in an industry of war, terror, and genocide.

BREAKING: BBC has compiled evidence of more than 160 Palestinian children deliberately shot in the head by IDF soldiers and snipers in Gaza. They concluded the worst thing ever:
"Israeli jews are hunting children for fun."
