With Uber, I hate to give in to their model, but it’s still slightly better than taxi only cus it feels safer & has all the safety features for teens etc. Also, easier to hail one from the app than taxis. But they’ve become ridiculously $

For days now, Miami-Dade County has faced the harsh realities of one of the driest starts to wet season in recent memory.

Brush fires have now scorched tens of thousands of acres, contaminated our air quality, endangered communities across the west side of our county, and put the lives of our first responders at risk.

I'm grateful to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, the Sheriff's Office, and every county worker on the ground protecting us around the clock.

But here is what should outrage every single one of us. The emergency fund meant to protect Floridians in moments exactly like this was drained by nearly half a billion dollars to build a prison in the Everglades that Tallahassee is now shutting down.

My opponent voted to gut those funds for an immigration enforcement stunt that served no real purpose beyond bowing to the president and Governor. We are less safe today because of it.

Water management, wildfire prevention, and disaster preparedness are not optional. They are the basic responsibilities of our elected officials.

Right now, the people entrusted with keeping us safe in Tallahassee spent our protection on a political stunt instead. And as usual, we pay the price.
