Medical schools have a social accountability to meet the needs of the communities that they serve. We need generalists - but our MD programs are primarily located in tertiary centers, with a specialist philosophy of care. Just maybe, the system is the barrier....

This is how you know who is valued in your organization.

On #PresidentsDay, it is important to recall that at least twelve U.S. presidents enslaved Black people, eight while in office. Two-thirds of the first 18 presidents collectively enslaved nearly 2,000 Black people. We know what largely built this nation, and it wasn’t freedom.
Diversify the curriculum all you want. Even refer to it as "decolonizing the curriculum" but at least don't claim this alone transforms material conditions of domination if the pedagogy used & knowledge attained is not praxis-oriented. You can't read your way out of coloniality.
