The end of a fantastic week of amazing seabird science and meeting the brilliant researchers behind it all.
Huge thanks to @ECOTOP_UC and @TheSeabirdGroup for organizing and having me present results from my first PhD chapter.
Paper coming soon!!

A great turn-out for the 16th International #Seabird Group Conference! 🥳#CoimbraSeabirds
We’re only halfway through, and already had lots of fantastic seabird talks! Huge thanks to the @ECOTOP_UC team at @UnivdeCoimbra for putting on such an excellent event 🤩
The winners of Research Image of the Year 2023 are Dr Richard Unitt and Emma Murphy.
Their image, ‘Deadly Rainbow: The Tragic Beauty of Oil-Coated Plumage’, was taken during a study of how crude oil affects the permeability of Manx shearwater feathers.

Check out the research I do as part of the Marine Ecology Group here in UCC and how it can contribute to conserving our Irish seabird populations! Thank you to @RTEBrainstorm for featuring my piece on the complexity surrounding biodiversity and growing ORE production
How do we protect our native seabirds while growing offshore wind energy? It's a complex process balancing risk, mitigation and meeting our ambitious renewable energy targets, writes @MarineBio_Em@MaREIcentre@UCC@IrishResearch https://t.co/KtAiSqstGD
See you on Monday the 9th at The Hub Marquee in main campus for @UCCSU Union Week! Come chat to us to learn more about the challenges Postgrad Researchers are facing in Ireland and what we’re working on! #PGRsDeserveBetter
🚨New paper out in @CurrentBiology, increasing
nocturnal fulmar/vessel interactions around the North Atlantic over 16 years. With @GannetGuy, @uccBEES, and a great team! Read all about what vessel attendance means for fulmars & their behaviour/habitat:

Excited to announce that our paper (and my first first author paper) is out now! We found that leatherback sea turtles will dive faster to forage longer 🐢 Major thanks to my co authors and top notch supervisors @tomkdoyle @Ash_w_b and Mike James https://t.co/HGvTf4BR8n
Today I’m presenting some preliminary results from my 1st PhD fieldwork, a pilot study to try HydroMoths (cheap and tiny #hydrophones ) for cetacean acoustic monitoring. I’ve got one with me as well! @EuroCetSoc#ECS2023 Poster no 59 🐬 @GannetGuy @ailbhesk @rogan_e
PhDs from across Ireland will be marching to the Dáil this Thursday to demand that @DeptofFHed complete the review of PhDs on time and put an implementation and budget plan in place ASAP.
