@Jas_Stw Hi! I'm a PhD student investigating distribution and behaviour of cetaceans using bioacoustics, primarily in relation to ORE. I'm based @uccBEES and @MaREIcentre in Ireland. I look forward to hearing about your research at #UKIRSC2025!
Thanks to social media, I received another record for the Critically Endangered flapper skate... found just 3km down the road!๐คฏPlease circulate this call for information. Let's find Ireland's first flapper skate nursery!โก๏ธ

My time on the @UKIRSC_SMM has also come to an end. I'd like to thank both of the brilliant committees that I've been on and for every single person that came to #UKIRSC23 and #UKIRSC24 and made them such special events ๐ฌ๐ณ

Check out the research I do as part of the Marine Ecology Group here in UCC and how it can contribute to conserving our Irish seabird populations! Thank you to @RTEBrainstorm for featuring my piece on the complexity surrounding biodiversity and growing ORE production
That's a wrap on #UKIRSC24 and my 2nd and final year on the @UKIRSC_SMM committee! I've absolutely loved every second of it and all of the gorgeous #marinemammal enthususiasts I have met in the process. Particularly this incredible bunch! ๐ฆญ๐ฌ๐ณ
Next, are #HydroMoths promising for cetacean acoustic monitoring? New, small and cheap devices recorded sounds of several cetacean species in field. Sounds were visually analysed and run through detection algorithms @Jas_Stw@GannetGuy @ailbhesk @rogan_e @uccBEES @MaREIcentre
Day twoโs workshop was an opportunity to learn and discuss a range of topics encompassing marine mammal law๐ฌ๐จโโ๏ธ๐ฉโโ๏ธ๐. A HUGE thanks to our speakers Helen Mitcheson (@cetacealegal) from @cetaceanlaw, and Julie Forshaw from @SeabirdOp Wirral #UKISCU24.
Finishing off day 1 with the Strandings workshop! Thank you to the workshop leaders Sarah and Chris from the @BDMLR, and Dr Gail from the @LivUni#UKIRSC24
