Not only did we just submit a big funding application on #bioluminescence, we did it while on a bioluminescence field trip with the fantastic Twardowski group! Working nights is a spectacular experience when both the water and sky around you sparkles β¨
Big thank you to our colleagues at the Department of Biology @NTNU who brainstormed names with us, including @TorkildBakken for making glassmark official! π
It's our 4 year anniversary! π₯³
We're celebrating by sharing that our favourite worm genus, Tomopteris, has been given a Norwegian name: #glassmark ('glass worm'). Suits them, right? π
Thank you #platynereis organisers and attendees, for two amazing days filled with talks and conversations about worms! We had a blast ππ
#WormWednesday#EED2024
Two days full of worms!!! SO excited for the Platynereis Satellite meeting @EED2024 in Finland. (I am also excited about the main meeting but WORMS! Platynereis and friends!)
We have an amazing line up with guests from other research organisms and annelids. I cannot wait.
Happy #Pride!
Weβre celebrating with this collection of different organisms that emit light in (almost) all the colours of the rainbow π

Some pictures from my first fieldtrip collecting plankton from the Trondheim fjord π
The worms don't like the sun as much as I do though, unfortunately. Even though we only found six Tomopteris planktonis and no Tomopteris helgolandica, I had a great time! π
Our underwater friend, Tomopteris helgolandica, emits yellow light. This colour is so rare that it may be invisible to other animals. It might be their secret language of love... A language we're hoping to decode soon!
πHappy Valentine's Dayπ

We are very excited to announce the Platynereis Satellite Meeting at the EuroEvoDevo in Finland. Abstracts can be submitted via the meeting registration. We will prioritize Platynereis abstracts but other annelid friends are welcome to submit and attend. @EED2024#WormWednesday
πMeet our very first PhD student @nadiavaneekelen!π
She has a BSc in Behaviour and Neuroscience, MSc in Marine Biology and will now combine these two fields to study the bioluminescence and neuroanatomy of annelids. Exciting times ahead! π
Fikk snakke om hjerneforskning og bioluminescerende bΓΈrstemark pΓ₯ denne podcasten! En fornΓΈyelse og Γ¦re Γ₯ fΓ₯ bidra til studentradioen RadioRevolt, spesielt med en slik innsiktsfull vert.
