Dave Umahi and the 5 Missing NELAN Engineers.
The firm assigned five of its best engineers to the project. They were:
• Engr. Nelson Onyemeh — Lead Consultant/CEO of NELAN Consultants, from Ihiala, Anambra State.
• Engr. Ernest Edeani — From Nkanu, Enugu State.
• Engr. Ikechukwu Ejiofor — From Umunya, Anambra State.
• Engr. Samuel Aneke — From Nkanu, Enugu State.
• Engr. Stanley Nwazulum — From Amawbia, Anambra State.
During the course of the project, serious tensions reportedly arose between NELAN and the Umahi administration over project control and payments. According to the families of the five engineers, the Umahi government allegedly wanted NELAN to "take a back seat" so the state could exercise direct control, issue payment certificates, and give instructions to contractors.
The then-Governor Dave Umahi reportedly wanted NELAN to sign or approve certificates of satisfactory completion for work supervised or executed by other engineers and contractors. NELAN allegedly refused, arguing that doing so would violate the AfDB contract terms, breach its professional obligations, and risk the firm, and possibly the project—being blacklisted by the AfDB.
On November 3, 2021, the five engineers left Enugu for Ebonyi State in an official Toyota Hilux (registration number ERR 001 EB) for site supervision. They never returned, and, to this day, neither they nor their remains have been found.
What happened to the five NELAN engineers?
Good news. On July 23, 2026, I will be unveiling the Southeast Human Right Bureau, an innovative project to counter the growing violations of human rights in the region and the spate of reckless executive lawlessness in the region.
Nigeria is going mainstream. Thank you @newsmax & @RobFinnertyUSA for allowing me to speak on the massacre of Christians in Nigeria. We need to continue to speak but more importantly act. Everyday we fail to act more Christians are murdered.
As I have been saying since I started investigating the genocide against Christians in Nigeria, Fulani militants are by far the largest perpetrators of violence against Christians in Nigeria.
The Trump Administration has made historic progress against Boko Haram and ISWAP, but we must also stop the killing in the Middle Belt at the hands of the Fulani if we want to ensure our brothers and sisters in Christ are safe to live and worship without being murdered.
I onbehaf of my family call on the international community, @realDonaldTrump and well meaning Nigerians demand the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. May Chukwu okike abiama answer me.
On this X Tuesday, I join millions of faithfuls across the world in calling for the release of MAZI NNAMDI KANU & all that are detained on account of expressing their right to self determination. As I’ve always maintained, this matter is political, not judicial.
#FreeNnamdiKanu.

@OneJoblessBoy If it's possible, I would want people to stop encouraging soapy. Soapy is addictive. Anything that is addictive should be encouraged because of people who will abuse it. Aside the speculated spiritual effects, I can tell you that it has severe health implications.
@Coal__City@Amy_beke My comprehension must be really to not be able to comprehend how your 2nd and 3rd premise led to the conclusion that Nsukka people said he has done everything for them. The video you posted was during a campaign. What were you expecting, we should tell him what to say abt his adm
@Coal__City@Amy_beke How does this translate to Nsukka people saying he has done everything for them. Isn't this supposed to be a political rally? In this video, PNM spoke so I'm surprised as to how you arrived at that conclusion.
