Highlights from the North Point Mall redevelopment public meeting tonight at Alpharetta City Hall:
- standing room only crowd
- no one ownership group behind the effort
- if city council approves (late Summer?), a prospective owner can say they have an arena plan

@ScottXfan Interesting. I wonder if it makes a difference when a franchise is awarded vs. when they begin play? In theory, once the zoning approvals are in place, a presentation could be made to the league (confirmed last night). Anson Carter is still one to watch.
@ScottXfan You need both. The arena developer said they are in constant talks with the league. Then there is a separate effort dealing with the state and region on parking and transportation that needs approval before the city even considers it. I do not believe this is happening on spec.
@ScottXfan While it wasn't explicitly stated, here is my guess. There is a group in place. There was a lot of confidence presented in that meeting last night. And it's a lot effort, by many groups, to go through all this if there was not a high probability of success.
The other thing. It would be at least 12 months from the time zoning is approved until construction would start. So the earliest a team would start play would be 2029. #NHLtoAtlanta
I thought Jamestown did a great job in their presentation. Many questions about what happens if the NHL doesnโt come. Some questions about aesthetics. Very few questions about taxes. I think the city of Alpharetta and the development team should be very encouraged. #NHLtoAtlanta
@HamptonPrezcott@GentlemanMashr I don't believe for one second that Forsyth is a viable option or ownership. Otherwise, it would have happened already. It's all about North Point Mall. I'm going to the public meeting tonight to see what the chatter is about.
@NHLtoAtlanta@agentofascent Krause doesn't have the money. Alpharetta's ownership group has been publicly silent, although the developers have been active. First drop-in public meeting regarding the North Point development is tomorrow night. I am going.
@FinkelsteinRyan I think McLean has the potential to be a #1. But I called it on Opening Day, even though he wasn't on the team yet, that Christian Scott would be a key factor in the Mets success this year.
