“In fighting those who serve devils one always has this on one’s side; their Masters hate them as much as they hate us.”
~The Director in “That Hideous Strength” by C.S. Lewis.
🇮🇱 Netanyahu: "The Nazis did not politely ask the Jews to leave. 'Did they say please step out so we can move in?' Of course not."
"I can name all the genocidal leaders in history and no one did this. So why is it a problem for us?"
The way these kids just don’t give a shit.
This is why I say “apathy is underrated.”
Imagine getting worked up over every little thing, convinced it’s all somehow political.
Might as well, since the government has taken a stake in the industry by treating it like an arms race with China.
Whereas as Bernie Sanders wants to “take” half, Trump will use treasury to invest in actually building something meant to advance our national interest and benefit the American people.
If the investments don’t pan out, taxpayers could be left holding the bag. But if 2008-09 taught us anything, it’s that taxpayers will be left holding the bag no matter what.
The real story is all the folks in media and elected office insisting that it’s not as open and shut as all that.
The news value for the public is high.
Gotta be honest, the Karmelo Anthony trial seems like something our media gatekeepers could have gatekept a little.
"Guy who was promptly arrested after stabbing someone in front of lots of witnesses convicted after jury deliberates for three hours." Riveting stuff!
Yes, but also read the chapter that didn't make the movies.
The Hobbits returned to the Shire, after the ring was destroyed and Sauron was vanquished, only to find that it had fallen under a sort of Iron Curtain. They organized a militia and fought a harrowing battle, in which many hobbits gave their lives, to drive off their recent oppressors.
The Shire still lost it's innocence. The West can survive such a loss. (Let's hope so, since we are experiencing it already.) But the Shire also discovered they had a backbone and were fit to secure their own liberty.
This is a screenshot from James Talarico's contributor "disclosures." The law requires a campaign to identify individuals who contribute to a campaign. There are strict limits on how much an individual can contribute. Notice anything strange about the identity of the contributors here? The identities are obscured.
About a decade ago I remember asking local republican operatives how these ActBlue donations are legal—there are clearly unidentified contributors behind these donations. They said, "we don't know, they just tell us it's fine."
Republicans have tried to replicate it with WinRed. I don't think donation platforms should be allowed to serve as a proxy for contributors to any campaign. Any donations should be passed along with compliant identifying information. Otherwise, this is just a way to launder money and circumvent public disclosure laws.
🚨SCOTUS pundits: There's a sleeper case being discussed in conference next week that hold huge significance from a constitutional AND restraining the administrative state perspective. PLUS it is horribly offense what EPA did. 1/
The LA mayor stuff is the dumbest conspiracy theory I've ever heard & makes no sense. Dem establishment/Bass wanted Pratt, not Raman, to advance.
Bass crushes Pratt in a 1-on-1 by 18 pt, while Raman beat Bass by 4.
Pratt's the rarity in LA less popular than the unpopular Bass!
What's the actual argument here? If the supposed fraudsters can use mail-in ballots to control election results, why would they not have just rigged it from the start so that Bass and Raman each ended up with 35-37% of the vote, ensuring they'd finish in the top two? Why only rig mail-in ballots that were cast late?
@JamesSurowiecki@yashar What are confused by?
Just because they can fraudulently control enough ballots on the margins to tip an outcome with late-arriving ballots, it doesn’t mean they have fraudulent control over the whole election.
@thebitcoyne@MLB Ump was calling runner’s interference. The ump crew got together to discuss and ended up allowing the double play. I imagine the reasoning is that since the fielder did, in fact, complete the play, the interference is moot and the result of the completed play wins out.
Traditional sovereign wealth funds:
“The government has deep pockets, let’s invest that money in enterprises that will benefit our people while furthering our national interests.”
Bernie Sanders sovereign wealth fund:
“Let’s steal wealth from any company we want, lol”
BREAKING: Bernie Sanders will introduce a bill to have the public take a 50% ownership stake in the country's biggest AI companies.
The American AI Sovereign Wealth Fund Act would have the government tax AI companies, take 50% of the stock, and put it under public control.
