As Lithuania prepares to end a ban on nuclear weapons, US troops continue their deployment in Lithuania, on the border of Russia in "ongoing effort to deter Russia"

"Soldiers with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, will deploy to Lithuania as the U.S. continues its military presence on NATO’s eastern flank, Maj. Montrell Russell, an Army spokesman, told Task & Purpose.

The deployment is part of Operation Atlantic Resolve and continues a U.S. presence that has regularly sent battalion-sized Army units to Lithuania since 2019.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda announced Tuesday that the next U.S. rotation was already on its way. His office said the incoming force would be no smaller than the previous rotation, which included more than 1,000 troops, although Lithuania had not yet received an exact number from Washington."

HOW FAR HAS VENEZUELA FALLEN? CHAVEZ VS DELCY

Twenty years ago, Hugo Chávez denounced the "Devil" of US imperialism at the UN, but today, his successor thanks Donald Trump despite the fact that in January of this year US forces illegally kidnapped President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, and amid Washington’s take over of Venezuelan oil and other strategic assets.

On 20 September 2006, Chávez declared from the UNGA podium: "Yesterday, the Devil came here... it still smells of sulphur today," as he called Bush the "spokesman of imperialism" seeking "domination, exploitation and pillage of the peoples of the world."

Acting President Delcy Rodríguez stood at the same podium on 23 September 2026 and thanked Trump for resuming relations, declaring: "Today, Venezuela is being reborn".

The shift became a reality when US forces bombed Caracas on 3 January 2026, kidnapping President Maduro and flying him to New York on narco-trafficking charges. Trump declared the US would "run Venezuela" and demanded "total access... to the oil and other things in their country".

Rodríguez initially vowed she would not "crawl" before Washington, but within days, she invited US cooperation on critical national assets such as oil. By March, the US Treasury issued General License 52, authorising US oil operations in Venezuela, with contracts specifying US law, dispute resolution in US courts, and all payments flowing to a US-controlled account in Qatar. US refiners Phillips 66, Citgo, and Valero now purchase Venezuelan crude directly from PDVSA, Venezuela's state-owned oil and gas company. Additionally, the IMF resumed relations in April 2026, which the Venezuelan Central Bank celebrated as "reconnection with the world" - a far cry from the national sovereignty and refusal of neoliberal economics under Chávez.

Chávez's Venezuela nationalised oil, redistributed wealth, and defied Washington, while Rodríguez's Venezuela thanks Trump, and speaks of "rebuilding the national soul".

I’ve just watched Delcy Rodríguez’s 20-minute address to the United Nations. Not once did she mention Nicolás Maduro — Venezuela’s president, illegally kidnapped by the United States — or condemn this outrageous assault on her country’s sovereignty.

Rodríguez has betrayed Venezuela and capitulated to US terrorism. What a contrast with the Iranians, who have demonstrated their willingness to fight in defence of their nation.

Norwegian politician Vidkun Quisling collaborated with the Nazis after they invaded his country, and his name became synonymous with treachery. In years to come, “Delcy” will be used in the same way.

"All volumes of potash fertilizers have already been contracted for export. This was stated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during the report of the Chairman of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of the republic Vladimir Orlovsky.

"Customs is primarily a budget. I am informed that during this year, despite certain difficulties, you have even increased in this regard to the level of last year — by almost 3.5%. This is a good growth", he said.
At the same time, Lukashenko noted that " crude attacks in economic terms by the countries of the European Union and the West as a whole have not gone anywhere".

"There is a reorientation of the flow of goods to the east. Succeeds, fails — what are the problems in this regard?" — the Belarusian leader specified.

He also asked Orlovsky how the situation is with the supply of goods from unfriendly countries that have imposed sanctions against Belarus. In addition, Lukashenka was also interested in the issue related to the reorientation of the flow of goods. We are talking about the introduction by Russia of a system for confirming the expectation of goods (SPOT).

" How are we affected by the measures that the Russian Federation is taking to protect its market — the so-called SPOT? In general, of course, I am following the situation and am informed that you have managed to establish good, good relations with Russia in terms of introducing these measures and our carriers are not experiencing any serious problems. This is good," Lukashenko stressed.
In turn, Orlovsky said that " now 85% of all Belarusian exports and imports for Belarusian enterprises are in the eastern direction".

The head of the State Customs Committee also noted that for eight months an increase of 3.5% in the receipt of payments to the state budget was recorded. This month, the growth rate is already at 5.2%.
