A beautiful @WSJ data viz that also makes my heart ache
The pandemic has created a less-connected world. Here’s a snapshot of two days, a year apart. https://t.co/zmHGzs7QUE
Proud of the symposium my dad has organized for this Friday. Secondary trauma is a real problem for everyone who touches the legal system.
He and I have also talked a lot about how journalists need to be aware of secondary trauma and ways to cope. This event is virtual and FREE
Our bodies keep the score of the legal system. To some, it's direct trauma, to others secondary. Families, jurors, judges, parties, lawyers - people. Join us. It's not just for lawyers, but CLE available. https://t.co/ACAYvaW9RD.
44 years in prison and the evidence was hidden and the police told lies - why is the State keeping this man locked up? What role does race play? Great job by my colleagues at Duke!
A US appeals court has ruled that Ronnie Long’s due process rights were violated under the constitution in his 1976 rape conviction in Concord. Lawyers have continued to fight for Long’s freedom arguing he was wrongfully convicted. https://t.co/vyMbPJqVd6 @WBTV_News
Forsyth County NC is not a 1st Amendment Free Zone. Peaceable protesters have the right to ask why jail inmates with medical emergencies are hog tied. People should not be arrested for blocking nonexistent traffic, as they were on 7-8 & 9. https://t.co/vNem8LMX0E via @JournalNow
An hour ago, our government carried out the first federal execution in 17 years, in a case in which the other defendant, for exactly the same crime, got life. States are abolishing the death penalty. Juries are rejecting it. Innocents suffer. https://t.co/hbdi3mxsG9 via @WSJ
Reformist prosecutors can only make reforms if we the people support them and help resist the backlash against them from the powers of privilege and habit.
All true. Progressive prosecutors cannot succeed unless the community, the defense bar, their fellow prosecutors, and ultimately the judiciary provide support. DA Gardiner’s fight to free Lamar Johnson symbolizes this struggle. Let’s hope Mo. S.Ct. makes the right call!
If defending racial injustice is such a "resource suck," as the NC District Attorneys Conference says, then why don't we just abolish the death penalty? In NC, New Hope for Defendants Who Claim Racism Tainted Their Death Sentence https://t.co/cxdbSUPEDZ via @MarshallProj
Unbiased perseverance by NC Innocence Commission investigators leads to finding of sufficient evidence of innocence to move to 3 judge panel. False confessions happen. Clinic & I to be representing one of young men going forward. https://t.co/IMGe5N4FW8
So proud of Attorney Nicole Little - as a college student she went with Darryl Hunt and I on the bus to GA to protest Troy Davis wrongful execution https://t.co/7i5oUCupHJ
Send a message to the Governor of Texas to stop this wrongful execution. How can Texas refuse to test the murder weapon for DNA evidence? Don't let Texas kill the innocent. Let the Governor hear from you.
3 ways you can help stop #RodneyReed's execution!
1. Contact @GovAbbott + Texas Board of Paroles and Pardons (Texas residents only) https://t.co/vwmc2PbITK
2. Share on social media
3. Donate to Reed family

Dep US AG Rosen on 11/8 at WFU said prosecutorial discretion to be applied only in individual cases - WRONG - state prosecutors ELECTED to notice statistics of discrimination and use power to fix on policy level - See NC studies re RJA death penalty & NC traffic stop disparity
Dep US AG Rosen on 11/8 at WFU said so-called “progressive” state prosecutors are adopting policies that will cause crime rates to increase - WRONG -Drug “crimes” are problems of addiction and criminal prosecution does not work - TREATMENT is answer, not escalating War on Drugs
Thanks Ron Wright for comments at WF Law from Deputy US AG Rosen. I watched on-line. Very happy to hear from the horse's mouth, but sad that he put the foot of the past in it. Particularly disturbing that attacked STATE prosecutors elected by the people to fix problems.
The Deputy Attorney General of the US DOJ spoke today at @WFULawSchool. I didn't hear his speech or the exchange afterwards -- I was teaching Criminal Law during that hour. 1/
