Royal Air Force Bomb Disposal was the first Bomb Disposal Squadron and was on active service 24/7 for 77 years.

At 21:28 this evening, 80 years ago from RAF Scampton the first of 19 Lancasters of 617 Squadron embarked on Operation Chastise. 8 aircraft and 53 aircrew were lost.
