@Alondra20150563 @edavidsonhed I agree! they are able to exploit student athletes and not even give a single dime on what they earn on such things like games /merchandise. It’s quite unfortunate and shows that NCAA advantage of student athletes #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
We have to help student athletes with resources and a more structured plan for their career development. We should keep the student athletes focus on engagement activities so they won't lose drive and motivation for their education. @edavidsonhed #ucr50 https://t.co/hhHJ6XRHlT
@kcpina2 @edavidsonhed I agree with you! Athletes are financially compensated for the labor they do and it’s unfair since they are the ones bringing in the revenue! @edavidsonhed #ucr50
The players who are doing this and creating big revenue for organizing and schools should be given so much more rights! To read that much of them are neglected and not given much to what they contribute is astonishing. #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@cbarr105 @edavidsonhed i completely agree with this and it’s crazy to know that these inequalities are still going on present day. Especially with institutions like colleges that need to enforce and provide these equalities to help students and provide a safe space for everyone #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
Title IX has been something implemented to help give equality for gender in education. It should've been something in place for a long time but to see it was barely implemented is till astonishing and to see that some colleges have yet to follow it @edavidsonhed #ucr50
@nfern019 @edavidsonhed Yes i totally agree! this would also bring solutions to racial conflicts that may occur between student athletes and faculty and help bring awareness on racial and gender inequality! #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
We need to diversify the racial and gendering hiring practices for such things as faculty, coaches and athletic directors. This would help gain awareness and provide more sensitivity to such topics on issues of race and gender! @edavidsonhed #ucr50 https://t.co/v6hQtnh8pN
@cbarr105 @edavidsonhed Agreed! Student athletes have a lot in their plate and should be helped throughout their whole time playing sports as it takes up a majority of time in the college. #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
We have to understand that athletes have to work 2x harder to get through college. They use athletics to pay for their tuition or simply pursue their career in life with the sport. There is no reason to keep the dumb jock stereotype. (article down below) @edavidsonhed #ucr50
@kaorenae @edavidsonhed I was able to find this article! It was an interesting read to see that the pandemic really impacted college athletes mental health. We even see how some colleges were seeking to help students but the resources were scarce @edavidsonhed #ucr50 https://t.co/ifcctGKqpv
We must acknowledge that student athletes are under lots of mental stress when balancing education, social life, and own life. This may lead to mental health issues and disruptions in life. There should be more help offered to them to combat these obstacles. #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
Its quite unfair to see the hard work and determination that students student athletes show and not be able to earn the same as their coaches or organization such as NCAA. Hope to see a better way to give much more portions of profit to students that earn it #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@KimValenciaF i completely agree with this tweet! i wish to see more equality when it comes to gender and sports. There shouldn’t be an unequal level or unfairness when it comes to Women and i hope to see it as a change #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
Reading the articles assigned for this week, it seems as if the NCAA seems to care more about the profit and popularity athletes bring to table instead of actually balancing out both academic careers and athletic careers. Exploitation seems to describe it #UCR50 @edavidsonhed
