There are a lot of weaknesses in @mattyglesias child care piece yesterday, but his assertion that high child care costs mainly matter for two-earner couples in expensive cities who are "well represented in the Democratic Party staffer class" is stunningly off-base.
(Also, as I write in my response, "Yglesias cares a lot about saying things that are true vs. things that are not true, so he might be interested to know that federal data shows that there is widespread usage of paid child care among all American families— [even] close to 30% of single-earner two-parent families utilize at least one regular nonparental care arrangement (and nearly 80% of these use center-based — i.e. paid — care).")
