This is how a driver killed a little boy, Bayron, in Queens while he and his family were crossing in the crosswalk. A driver couldn’t bear to wait two seconds behind a lawfully yielding car. Drivers kill people because they’re impatient.
But bike lanes!!!
@dschwa8059@Megmd514@nycdot I saw it twice this morning on my way to work. You’re either lying or have a very different definition of running a red light
fun fact: in New York City, emergency vehicles literally use the bike lanes to get out of gridlock. Well-protected bike lanes can serve as an emergency lane that actually reduces response times.
don’t believe me?
here’s proof from last week
The Carroll Street Bridge will reopen soon, and I encourage DOT to open it for pedestrians and cyclists only!
Reopening this historic landmark is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reimagine how we share public space in Gowanus. As our neighborhood grows, we should prioritize safe, accessible infrastructure that serves pedestrians and cyclists, reduces traffic violence, and strengthens community connection.

@burby_geek Why does it need to be free? Also, this is a paying customer that the parking garage is putting on the sidewalk. The garage should be fined
Why does the NYPD allow parking garages to store cars on the sidewalk. There are 1-2 cars here every day. It is around the corner from the 19th precinct and directly next to an entrance to the 6 train.
After ~3 hours of in person testimony, several people turned away at the door due to capacity constraints, and with 150+ people watching on Zoom throughout the night, the @CB7Manhattan vote in support of the proposed W. 72nd Street redesign carries 26-17-1.
@NYC_DOT@NYCMayor Thank you for this project. Manhattan CB7 SUPPORTED 72nd St 26-19-1 OMG!!!! This plus Lafayette and 34th Street will improve the quality of life for me and many other people. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾WOOOHOOOO!!! 🥳👏🏾🎉
CB7 just voted to approve DOT's plan for a two-way bike lane on West 72nd Street - the first crosstown protected bike lane on the entire UWS.
What a huge win!!
Delighted to see this near @nyuniversity. It became three lanes of parking and dangerous for cyclists after a street redesign—now it works better for all road users.
