Since the resumption of @WFP_UNHAS services in #Afghanistan 🇦🇫 a year ago, we transported more than 22,500 passengers and 52 tons of light cargo.
The operation currently offers 20 connections to remote and hard-to-reach destinations, and to 3 international locations.

We have just received a helicopter in #Somalia 🚁 which allow us to transport into the deep field both aid workers as well as humanitarian light cargo.

As the needs in #Somalia 🇸🇴 are greater than ever due to an extreme and worsening drought, it is essential that humanitarian actors and relief cargo can reach the families most in need.

The @WFP Aviation Service is working to intensify market intelligence and conduct test flights of already identified remotely piloted aircraft systems aimed at expand WFP cargo delivery capabilities in countries with growing needs.

.@WFP is constantly looking at ways to reduce the environmental impact of its operations.
A case study carried out in 2021 to evaluate the operation opportunities to minimize aircraft fuel consumption & emissions has shown a decrease ↘️ in fuel consumption of 2%.

The @WFP_UNHAS aircraft fleet includes fully equipped helicopters for transporting patients, vaccines and biological samples. The deployment and resourcing of UNHAS ✈️🚁 frontline first-response services are critical to the overall humanitarian response.

The campaign was attended by more than 60 delegates coming from Northern and Central America and Caribbean region, representing Civil Aviation Authorities, FAA, International Organizations, air operators and humanitarian organizations.

An Aviation Safety Campaign organized by @WFP, @IATA, @icao and @gcaauae to improve the Latin America and Caribbean States emergency & disaster response preparedness, recently took place in Miami with the participation of Mr. Samir Sajet, WFP Regional Aviation Safety Officer.
