@chrisadonnelly The main barrier to achievement is poverty. Some have not held down a job for generations. Thus children copying their older family members do not seek employment. We lived in a small house in Andersonstown. I was mocked by many as I was the only child to go to a grammar school
@RemoveTheRoom@warwickmansell@LBC I had to wear a horrible shirt in St Dominics. I have never wore one since. We were told to make sure our shirts were washed every day. We had not got a washing machine. I told this to the head nun. She looked at me as if I had 3 heads
@chrisadonnelly@QUBelfast So energising mingling with students. I love the positive energy from young minds. The student uniform of jeans and T-shirt tells us we don’t need layers of make up. Why does it all have to end?
@ahmedhankir I am not driving as my medication causes extreme exhaustion. Drinking 2 litres of fluid causes frequent bathroom visits. I would never put others at risk. My children think I am better using bus, trains and planes.
I cherish the good times.
@johnfinucane Brilliant synopsis of the only way forward. ethossocso our cYes, some of us gained employment and a decent standard of living. It was very difficult for families who had no bread winner. Some of us lived to tell the tale
My . grandson is torturing himself about the upcoming trip to Tenerife. He said that his mum and dad brought the whole family touring France and Spain ,Darragh said he was worried that he wouldn’t learn as much as the rich kids. I that the school is promoting inequality
@Domsball kids are sweltered in stiff white shirts in stuffy classrooms..
the 3 grandsons are at the local grammar school. Grandson no. I
tells me the school trip for 5 nights to learn about rocks. Price 1000. Lack of funds is the first barrier to education. Loads of rocks in Ireland
@pigletish I think we are all like that. The damage is always there. When someone loved us we are suspicious and feel unworthy. Try not to damage your new relationship with fears from the past
@ahmedhankir You are a fantastic doctor I have found that Mental Health is the Cinderella of services. Sadly some people are ushered into the Smoke Room on the hour and given a cigarette with their name scrawled on it
@Auras_Journey Allow yourself time. Don’t explain to anyone. If they care they will find out When I was very ill a friend brought me to the park and a little kitten came and sat. My friend said you will get better and the kitten will return
@drraja_ Is mental illness genetic or is it a result of trauma. Have you looked after clients whose diagnosis is biological without any trauma in their lives?
