This ‘nomad’ Indian botanical scientist was the first woman to enter laboratory at RHS Garden Wisley (UK) in 1947. She received PhD from U Michigan in 1932. Went back to India in 1951 and faced discrimination and forgotten! What an inspiring story!
The College of Science had a wonderful time hosting the annual Discovery Days outreach program this week.
Students from around western Oregon traveled to the LaSells Stewart Center for two days of exploration, learning and fun!

When Science meets Art - Amazing painting by @JackieMorrisArt with YInMn Blue (discovered at @OSU_Chemistry@OSUScience) for a good cause. No wonder Chemistry is Awesome in so many ways!
Happy to see the paperback version of @kakape book on Blue. Still vividly remember @kakape visit to my lab at @OSU_Chemistry to discuss about our YInMn Blue discovery and is blutifully chronicled in the book!
A wonderfully written article by @anjahuja explaining the quantum entanglement. A concise take on this complicated concept that won this year Physics @NobelPrize

@philipcball Charles Pedersen was awarded Nobel Prize for discovery of Crown Ethers and published only 25 papers in his life-time as DuPont chemist. Mathematically his h-index can't be more than 25. Nobel prize was awarded to him for his discovery not for his h-index. https://t.co/dWlWwXNgSJ
I read this article in @ScienceMagazine that @Nature has retracted a paper that claimed a RT superconductor. When @kakape wrote a feature article on YInMn Blue for @ScienceMagazine he first visited my lab, made the pigment himself and took it with him. Proof is in the pudding!
After doubts grew, a blockbuster paper claiming to have discovered a room-temperature superconductor has been withdrawn by Nature over objections of the study team. https://t.co/teng1l1KQK
I was invited to write a Comment article for @NatRevMater regarding our color pigment discovery. Our thanks to Dr. Charlotte Allard @c_allardf for this 'out of the blue' opportunity. The article can be accessed at https://t.co/8EnyJ5W7yJ @OSU_Chemistry@OSUScience
To this day, most inorganic pigments have been discovered by chance. Read our Comment by @Mas_OregonState and Jun Li to understand the science behind their colours, and why pigments with desired colours are so difficult to engineer: https://t.co/22YaknoOA5 @OSU_Chemistry
A recent new Periodic Table video on element Yttrium (Y) by Sir Prof. Martyn Poliakoff of University of Nottingham, UK, includes YInMn blue! Prof. Poliakoff makes amazing videos about stories of elements in the periodic table. https://t.co/nKgcFzkT97
@AnyGivenLundy Came to US in 1982. Loved watching WKRP. Dr. Johnny Fever was awesome! RIP Mr. Hesseman!! We still laugh when we think of some of the lines in the show. "As god is my witness I thought turkeys could fly" On Herb's suit. "Somewhere there's a Volkswagen without seat covers".🤣
Blue isn’t Magic – it’s Chemistry! Chemistry is Magical!! This article in the recent issue of Tatter Magazine describes the chemistry behind two new blue pigments created in my laboratory at @OSU_Chemistry@OSUScience
