Schools are far from perfect.
That said, so many problems in schools exist not because adults in schools underperform, but because adults at home under parent.
Digital Literacy- parents need to be able to use tools such as the LMS to support students with assignments, monitor grades and receive communication from the school. Too often they are unaware of the tools available. #ITEC9400#SelfEfficacy
Parents can show kids that education is a priority by attending school events, asking them about their day at school and being genuinely interested. Take their kids places to learn about history or science like museums. Talk to them! #ITEC9400#SelfEfficacy
Becoming better at teaching through videoconferencing. It is difficult to assess student understanding with audio/video from students. Requires better probing questions and follow-up communication with students. #ITEC9400#SelfEfficacy

6th grade science students combined their knowledge of coding Ozobots with their understanding of the water cycle. This STEM based lesson used student problem solving skills to debug codes for the robots as they explained the water cycle. #DRMSClassOf2027#DRMSstem

Mrs. Mason’s 6th grade students are creating virtual rock and mineral museums combining science content with 21st century technology skills as their mid-term project. Next week they will use augmented reality to “walk through” each others museums. #DRMSstem#DRMSClassOf2027

Mrs. Mason’s 6th grade science class debated the issue of scientific inaccuracies in movies and used evidence to support their claim in an open letter to movie producers.
Students developed proposed laws to prevent plastic pollution in our oceans which included timelines for implementation. Favorite quote of the day- “Let the new generation save the Earth”. So powerful! The activity ended with students voting on the laws. #DRMSClassOf2026
