Visit to Qool-Caday this week. Shocking to see what climate change and 40+ years of overgrazing has done but excited about the potential for better livestock management and regenerative farming.
@RAbdiAnalyst Love every element of this picture. From the baggy jeans, to the monitor, to the connected, rolling ball mouse. Very ‘90s, @RAbdiAnalyst 😂

#Somaliland: President @Abdirahmanirro Inaugurates Landmark Water Expansion Project in #Boorama
His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Somaliland, Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi (Irro), today officially inaugurated the Borama Water Expansion Project, a strategic infrastructure initiative designed to secure sustainable access to clean water for the city’s rapidly growing population. The ceremony marked a milestone in the government’s enduring commitment to strengthening essential services and advancing inclusive national development.
Funded by the Somaliland Development Fund (SDF), the project stands as a flagship example of how coordinated investment in public utilities can transform urban resilience and improve the quality of life for citizens.
The event was attended by senior members of the government, representatives of the SDF, the Envoy of the Kingdom of Denmark to Somaliland, regional and municipal authorities, traditional leaders, and community stakeholders — all gathered to recognize the project’s far-reaching impact on Borama and beyond.
Addressing the occasion, President Irro underscored that “water is the backbone of progress, the guarantor of health, and the lifeline of every community.” He noted that the Borama Water Expansion Project will decisively ease the city’s rising demand for safe water while symbolizing the government’s determination to deliver tangible improvements in the daily lives of Somaliland’s people.
The President also urged the residents of Borama to protect and preserve this critical infrastructure, emphasizing that responsible stewardship of natural resources is essential to ensuring intergenerational prosperity.
In a further demonstration of his administration’s commitment to affordability and social equity, President Irro yesterday (8 September 2025) announced a significant reduction in Borama’s water tariff — lowering the price from 15,000 Somaliland Shillings to 11,000 Somaliland Shillings per cubic meter.
All praise is due to Allah.
