The prefrontal cortex is the last brain region to fully mature.

It doesn't complete development until around age 25.

This is why medical training during the 20s is uniquely challenging. The region responsible for long-term planning, impulse control, and emotional regulation is still actively being wired.

You're not just learning medicine; You're doing it while your brain is still under construction.
