Every Christmas Eve, local school children come to Holten and Groesbeek Canadian Military Cemeteries in the Netherlands to light a candle in honour of every soldier laid to rest. This humbling display reminds us to be grateful for the peace we enjoy. Merry Christmas everyone.

On 6 December 1917, a munitions ship exploded in Halifax’s harbour.
Halifax was devastated as the blast and following tsunami levelled parts of Halifax.
Sadly, the Halifax Explosion killed roughly 2,000 people, wounded 9,000 and left 25,000, homeless.
