In 3 states you can get covenant marriages, which don’t allow for no fault divorces.

That’s the problem with shit tests (indirect tests) in general.

They create confusion on both sides.

If the test giver is real/fake. If the taker wants to pass/fail. Whether the taker thinks the giver is real/fake. And whether the direct question deserves a true or false answer independently.

You get 16 scenarios and many where one or both parties interpret the result wrong.

I’d suggest just adopting the practice that, in dating, shit testing doesn’t exist. This reduces miscommunication and acts as a filter itself.

If someone proposes a shit test whose independent answer is false, you will fail their shit test. This will screen them out of your dating pool, which you want because they asked you to be dishonest, and that itself is toxic.

Your suggestion to acknowledge that others may be involved in shit testing is, itself, toxic. Because shit tests don’t work if people treat them strictly as value questions. They only work because people recognize and respond to the indirect question.

Say we’ve got some psycho who wants a slave for a wife. Assume also the woman in question dating him doesn’t also want this, since we’ve got some weird couple dynamics out there. But she’s also modest. Dude asks her to dress modestly, she does, now dude thinks she’s a compliant slave. He just mislead himself because the next time a control question comes up, she’s not in the frame of submission. She only said yes last time because the correct answer for her was yes. Next time it may be no. It’s only when she answers yes in spite of being immodest that she submits to the control frame. And the only reason she’d do that is if she acknowledged it was a shit test and the correct answer was supposed to be yes.
