@BetsyLasch @GGunthorp @AdamLasch1 @cynicalmilkmaid Protectionism is how we looked at it. 12 years ago we met with a state employee talk about on farm butter. It was very discouraging.
We had never traveled much but the reputation of Wisconsin cheese is earned.
Some states cheeses seem to be made in the bath tub.

@AdamLasch1 @JerodMcDaniel A 50% chance most of those dairy farmers had cows because they needed them to pay bills not because they liked cows. It is crazy what some will to to sit on a tractor and till soil.

@JasonHanson2028 When my grandpa got into his 90's he referred often to the single farmhouses as the farm owner of his youth, the pea viners and schoolhouses. I passed between them my whole life and there never was a farm with the house. And in my lifetime they were never there.
