New pre-print from our group! Local photo-crosslinking and stiffening of ECM proteins within ex vivo tissues to probe lung epithelial cell function: https://t.co/4Z8j30kq5U Led by @_Donia_Ahmed5 & @MattLTan and huge team effort with @BakerLaboratory@RachelZemans@nanocartilage
Excited for Avinava @AvinavaR and Katie Wei and their recent work published in @CMBEjournal! A cool collaboration with the Shtein lab @mshtein@UMengineering on kirigami-inspired hammocks to mimic lung alveoli https://t.co/GVOT5RxqT7
A little late on this, but happy with the way this final first-author paper from my PhD turned out! It was a great opportunity to integrate a diverse set of tools from across disciplines. Thanks again to everyone who helped out with this!
One final paper from @FischbachLab in 2023! @MattLTan et al. investigated changes in tumor cell metabolism that occur during invasion toward engineered microvessels using metabolic imaging, metabolomics, and flux balance analysis. Read it here: https://t.co/BLgc7pRg9p
Matrix mineralization is important for bone health but how it regulates metastatic tumor growth was unknown. Siyoung Choi and @Matt_AWhit@CornellBME now found that bone matrix mineralization inhibits tumor growth with an interesting twist!
Woke up to exciting news in my inbox this morning! I received the official Notice of Award for my NRSA / F31 application from @theNCI. Looking forward to pursuing this project on the role of adipocytes in breast cancer for the remainder of my time @CornellBME
Heterogeneity of cancer is linked to its physical properties! Glad to see @GarrettBeeghly and @adshimpi1 @CornellBME review published. With contributions from our own @NCIPhySci patient advocate @bobriter
Hi @NCIPhySci trainees, The PS-ON community is applying to host a Special Session at the 2023 BMES annual meeting. If you are a trainee attending BMES interested in giving a flash talk please fill out this interest form https://t.co/Y42jD89k81
Pls join me in congratulating Dr @R_E_Stephenson who defended her thesis about contextual regulation of macrophages and made our lab a better place @CornellBME@FischbachLab
Last weekend I graduated from Cornell, celebrating with my family and friends in @FischbachLab. As this chapter comes to a close, I am excited to continue my research career as a postdoc with @ClaudiaLoebel. Thank you again to everyone who has supported me!
Congrats to our five graduating PhD students who walked this weekend at @CornellBME commencement! We are so proud of you all and can’t wait to see what you will accomplish next 🐠
Thank you for the kind words @fischbcl17 ! And thank you to everyone who shared this moment with me. I will definitely miss everyone in @FischbachLab and @CornellBME !
Proudly presenting Dr @MattLTan - what a treat listening to his presentation about metabolic regulation of tumor invasion! @FischbachLab@CornellBME will miss him a lot!!!
How many PhD students does it take to carve a pumpkin? We found out by celebrating Halloween together as a lab! See the video of our designs (spooky and otherwise) below 🎃
Congrats to our own @R_E_Stephenson for receiving an @NIH@NIBIBgov T32 Immunoengineering Training Grant. This grant will support Regan's work examining how fibrillar collagen influences macrophage phenotype in the context of breast cancer. Way to go Regan!
It's official! Fischbach Lab is on Twitter. We'll be posting research updates, outreach opportunities, and other lab shenanigans on this account. Run by the group members below 🐠
Glad to have finally put this out, it's been a long time coming! Incredibly grateful to our collaborators for enabling us to take such a multidisciplinary approach.
