The Cosmos EVM exploit is a reminder that you can secure your own application and still inherit risk from infrastructure you depend on.
A bug in shared software affected six networks and led to ~$5.7m being sold.
As more financial activity moves onchain, security can’t just mean “we audited the contracts.”
Dependency risk, monitoring and incident response matter too.

@The_SoniaShaw I think the third stage is where the real challenge starts. It's one thing for software to move money, but it's another thing for it to understand what it is buying and whether the asset is actually worth buying.
Finance is moving through 3 eras.
1. Record-based finance: Assets were ledger entries inside institutions. Trusted, but slow, manual, and siloed.
2. Onchain / programmable finance: Assets could carry their own rules, settle faster, and connect more directly. The rails improved. The missing piece was quality assets.
3. Machine-executable finance: Software is starting to transact on its own. Real, early, and still far from allocating into assets like property at scale.
The important thing is this: each era doesn’t replace the last. It raises the bar for what a well-built asset has to be.
@OneAsset_io Interesting how far we've come from proving a property transaction could happen digitally to figuring out how entire real estate markets can operate onchain.
@The_SoniaShaw@fairmint I agree with the point, but interoperability isn't automatically the answer either. Common standards only help if institutions actually adopt them.
@The_SoniaShaw That's the point. An asset being onchain doesn't automatically make it useful; it needs to be integrated into the activities people actually want to perform.
