The Ethereum Foundation just published a new mandate defining its role.
It’s a good moment to revisit a broader question for crypto: what role should foundations play as networks mature?
@milesjennings explored this in “The End of the Foundation Era in Crypto,” including why some foundations (like EF) have played an important role in getting networks off the ground.
The Real Reason Multiplayer Infrastructure Is Holding You Back
Multiplayer backend infra isn't just complex... It's costly, rigid, and holding back the next generation of games.
Here’s what’s wrong, and how we fixed it. 🧵
If you know MMOs, you know server scaling kills performance and budgets. 🤑💀

I don't get why there are so many cynics working in crypto who don't believe in it. WTF are you doing with your life?
Crypto also has the most optimistic people on earth, to the point of being almost delusional.
The most valuable tech is obvs being built by people in between these two spectrums.
Introducing Quark Multiplayer – The Networking Engine Powering the Future of Online Worlds
Quark Multiplayer is a distributed compute engine designed to scale networked games and simulations. Here's why it's groundbreaking:
1️⃣ Most Scalable: Quark eliminates the constraints of traditional global state, allowing real-time performance on an unprecedented scale.
2️⃣ Most Efficient: Engineered for unmatched efficiency:
• Costs 10× less than the nearest competitor
• Delivers 10× greater efficiency than traditional MMO backends
• Scales to tens of thousands of CCUs in a single shard
3️⃣ Resilient & Secure: Quark ensures low-cost redundancy, enhances liveOps resilience, and enables innovative distributed cheat detection.

How is Spinor going to bring the first billion users on-chain?
Next-generation internet apps will be:
• Immersive and performance-intensive
• Decentralised & distributed
• Powered by AI & virtual economies
But today’s compute infrastructure isn’t built for it—pathological performance limits, latency-tolerant, transactional backends, poor scalability, and inefficient decentralisation hold us back.
Spinor is changing that. See how. 👇
Introducing Spinor: The Distributed Intelligent Supercomputer for the Next Internet.
• Spinor turns the 2 billion+ computers on clouds, data centres and public internet into a decentralised "World Supercomputer".
• It is designed to crack the hardest problems across AI, games, enterprise and defence computing.
This is how we bring the first billion users on-chain.
Very tired of the eth maxi complaints
- yes, EF is running itself into the ground in terms of how they spend money (6yr runway)
- yes, the fact they don't use any DeFi is undefensible
- yes, the fact the @ethereum account is dead silent is a waste
However
- we've had a savage regulatory environment for the last few years, and ETH was safe throughout, and we got an ETF approved
- scaling roadmap has been relentlessly executed, with hard forks every 6? months
- the ETH infinite garden has kept growing, with more and more L2s joining the party
The EF isn't and shouldn't be to ETH what the Solana Foundation is to SOL. Because ETH is built differently. It's truly decentralised, and truly one of a kind.
Thanks to V's management style, Ethereum might be the only Blockchain after Bitcoin to actually have a shot at being credibly neutral. This is a huge long-term advantage which is partially possible *because* the EF isn't the main character
If we want Ethereum to win, we definitely need to do better. But this isn't on the EF alone. This is about all major Ethereum organisations working together towards a single goal.
And this is IMO where the discontent originates. The EF complaints are more of a symptom of a larger misalignment.
We have a bunch of outspokenly ETH-Aligned organisations (L2s) who aren't seen to be meaningfully collaborating towards growing the ETH Pie. It's not the EF's lone responsibility.
The roll-up centric roadmap has created huge L2 treasuries.
I'd now like to see all L2s pitch in more. Fund a separate organisation to compete with the EF. Using ETH in your chain isn't enough to be ETH aligned.
