An unforgettable visit to La Fila and Icononzo. It was truly inspiring to hear such commitment to peace and to implementation of #AcuerdoDePaz despite the many challenges. I hope to return in the future 🇨🇴🇬🇧🇺🇳
Russia is trying to return us to a world of the past.
A world of imperialism.
A world of redrawing borders by force.
A world without the @UN Charter.
We cannot allow that to happen.
🇬🇧🇺🇳 @DavidLammy in the UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine.
Myanmar must not be forgotten.
Three years ago, the Myanmar military overturned the democratically elected government.
Military airstrikes are killing civilians. In Rakhine State, communities like the Rohingya face the dire impact of the escalating conflict.
We must act.
Three years since the Myanmar military overturned the democratically elected government, violence continues to harm civilians.
The UK along with 🇪🇨🇫🇷🇯🇵🇲🇹🇰🇷🇸🇮🇨🇭🇺🇸 reiterate the call for rapid, safe and unimpeded humanitarian access to all people in need.
⬇️ Joint statement. ⬇️
The people of Myanmar deserve peace.
That’s why the UK is imposing new sanctions to curb the military’s access to resources.
Together with partners, we call for renewed efforts to secure a peaceful and democratic future for Myanmar.
Three years on from the coup, civilians in Myanmar face violence daily at the hands of the military.
The UK is imposing new sanctions on the military and its access to economic resources.

The UK, in partnership with the US and Canada, is sanctioning Myanmar arms dealers and military financiers.
Our work with North American allies will make it harder for existing sanctions to be dodged.
Today, the UK and international partners announced further #sanctions to maximise pressure on the #Myanmar military regime, targeting arms dealers responsible for the supply of restricted goods to the security forces, as well as financiers of the military.

The UK 🇬🇧 is appalled by reports of a Myanmar military strike on Munglai Hkyet in Kachin State, #Myanmar, which has killed innocent civilians.
Our Head of Mission @kenofl's statement below.
As @ThinzarShunleiYi rightly says, including young people’s voices is vital.
On #InternationalDayofDemocracy, the UK continues to support the building of a Myanmar that is:
🕊️ peaceful
✅ democratic

The scale of the #LibyaFloods is shocking.
We are launching a flash appeal for US$71.4 million to swiftly assist 250,000 people.
Getting lifesaving supplies to people and preventing a secondary health crisis is essential.
Our flash appeal: https://t.co/ZcBRBfazdt
It's shocking to see the scale of the loss and devastation caused by the floods in Libya.
We're working to provide immediate assistance to the Libyan people, including initial funding to support the international relief effort.

I am deeply concerned by the deadly flood emergency unfolding in #Libya.
Our thoughts are with the affected people.
Emergency teams are being mobilized to help on the ground.
Accountability is the only way to end the culture of impunity in Myanmar.
🇬🇧 proud to support the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar’s vital work to facilitate justice and accountability.

The #Myanmar military is illegally targeting civilians, including attacks on schools. One year ago, an airstrike on a school in #LetYetKone village killed 11 children.
We continue to call for the military to be held accountable for such crimes.
This is why #Rohingya refugees in #Bangladesh can barely afford the bare essentials.
In just three months @WFP has been forced to dramatically cut assistance: from $12 to $10 to $8 per person, per month.
Now we're running out of $$$ – and families are running out of food.
UK remains committed to standing up for the rights of Rohingyas:
🔹 providing over £380m to the response in Bangladesh and Myanmar
🔹 supporting efforts to seek accountability for survivors
🔹consistently called for voluntary, safe, dignified returns
