@hackedbyfipsii It's quite different if he gets loaned out for 2 seasons though. Then he has 3 seasons (including this one) of professional football under his belt when he comes to Liverpool aged 18. Long term future and short term development sorted.
@Mobyhaque1@IverHanrahanGP Depends on how transferable those profiles are. Benteke was a target man (albeit a good one) and little else. Wharton and Diomande in particular don't completely restrict a team to one way of playing. Having Benteke did.
@anfieldspiel@Mobyhaque1 Once a few signings come through the door and the world cup's over, you'll be excited for it to be back again. We're not going to have a great start to the season, but there's enough talent of the right ages for it to be recovered when Slot does go.
@bennywords1@Luchoresi Just for context, Doku has 10 goals contributions all season in the Premier League. Diomande's being bought for pace, dribbling and to stretch the lines. He's a positional replacement for Salah, but he's not going to play the same role.
@RKyanited@isoquince The bigger issue for me is Wharton. MGW should have gone, but he's not the difference between the tournament going well for England going or not. Without Wharton we're missing one of the best line breaking passers in Europe. I get not starting him but he should have gone.
@qwesibully@MCFC__Kun@NealGardner_ Deadly, you can't honestly tell me that England has a better centre back pairing than Konsa and Guehi or a better right back than Reece James. They don't.
@MCFC__Kun@NealGardner_ Hall and O'Reilly I don't think is too far off. Depends what you want, a full back inverting into midfield or more of an overlapping runner. The centre backs and right back in the tournament back four are better though.
@NicR1999_ I kid you not, if you did a combined all time XI of US VS Australia, Australia would have more players than the US. This superiority complex from the US pundits is strange to put it lightly.
@LaLigaMichael@NealGardner_ PSG and Liverpool both had/have the midfielders to work to cover their fullbacks. Mendes and Hakimi as well are so athletic they can make great recovery runs too. LFC had Henderson (underrated in his prime) covering the space behind Trent. That lineup doesn't work though.
@palindo7 @Carl_M79 Spain and Portugal I agree, though even then, I think Bellingham is in with a shout for both. France though, Rice walks in over Kone, Camavinga, or Tchouameni. Bellingham against current Griezmann in the attacking mid spot is also contentious.
@palindo7 @Carl_M79 This is just wildly untrue. Harry Kane walks into any of those teams, easily. Rice, Bellingham, or Anderson would all easily start for France. Reece James starts at right back for all of them. That's just off the top of my head.
