Today I'm creating another free shape library ... this one for people who monitor buildings for energy performance and need a quick sketch or two without cranking up the usual serious, BORING software apps.

If building energy monitoring is your area, can I have your thoughts?

How I imagine you using these: drag a floor plan png into SimpleD and then layer on shapes from this library ( sensors, hubs, meters, etc.) to show what’s installed or proposed. Then you've got a sketch for your “where should the CO2 sensors go” conversation at 2pm today.

If this library idea sounds interesting, what shapes would be helpful? Which devices do you place most often? So far I've got some basic shapes for occupancy, temperature, humidity, CO2, air quality, daylight, window contacts and submeters. What else would help you communicate quickly?

Get your agent to do the busy work while you get your flat white (magic. you deserve extra today.). Then you can just tweak the final diagram in SimpleD...your favourite MacOS desktop app.

(I'm messing around with an arduino but the most I can do at the moment is make a nice red LED light up. You must understand: for a traditional dweller of software space who rarely works with his hands beyond typing, this manifestation in physical space is...something to behold.)
