Special congratulations to Keren Charles Dongo, who took a leave of absence from my office to lead this referendum campaign to victory. I’m lucky to have her on my team and couldn’t be more proud of the difference she’s making for the Commonwealth and country.
I may be tired and a little hoarse, but as I said again and again on the Senate floor, this is a moment where we cannot afford to be silent, when we must speak up.
What’s most clear to me tonight is that this is just the beginning, that Americans across this country, no matter their title or party, are ready to be heard.
I believe that history will show we rose to meet this moment.
It will show we did not let the chaos and division go unanswered.
It will show that when our president chose to spread lies and sow fear, we chose to come together, to work together, and to rise together.
.@SenSchumer: "Would the Senator yield for a question?"
@SenBooker: "Chuck Schumer, it's the only time in my life I can tell you no."
Schumer: "I just wanted to tell you, a question, do you know you have just broken the record?"

BREAKING: The Supreme Court ruled today that cities can punish unhoused people for sleeping in public, even if they have nowhere else to go.

Honored to announce that @JennMcClellanVA is our 4th CD Democratic Nominee!
The general election starts today. Let's get to work to defend our democracy, protect our rights, and strengthen our economy.
Today in Virginia:
First time House and Senate have Black leadership (@DonScott757 & @SenLouiseLucas).
1/3 of the current legislature are people of color! 8 AAPI legislators. 4 Latinos. A history-making 20 Black women. At least 9 LGBTQ+ members. 14 women in the Senate. More historic firsts than I can name. And there are A LOT more young people serving.
This is a legislature that looks like us. This is what is special about working on campaigns and getting involved in politics!!! It makes a difference!!!
I am deeply disturbed by the rise in antisemitism and Islamophobia occurring right now. Hate has no place in this country, and we must do everything in our power to confront it.
In a government by, of, and for the people, your vote is your power.
My great-grandfather had to take a literacy test and find 3 white men to vouch for him just to register to vote. My grandfather and father had to pay poll taxes to vote.
Voting rights are personal to me. 🧵
