HOW COMMUNION IN THE HAND CAME TO U.S. PARISHES:
"The practice took longer to reach implementation here in the United States, and the story of how it came about is not an edifying one. In 1975, the Archbishop of Cincinnati (later of Chicago), Joseph Bernardin, who was also at that time President of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, tried in vain to generate the two-thirds vote of U.S. bishops required prior to requesting an indult. He tried again in 1976 and again failed to get the votes. At the 1977 conference, one brave bishop, knowing well that the practice of communion in the hand had little support among the American faithful, asked for a survey of dioceses on the question. Cardinal Bernardin immediately dismissed his request as “out of order.” Frustrated after three years of failed votes, Bernardin resorted to counting the votes of bishops not in attendance at the meeting, including several retired bishops who no longer presided over any diocese. It was in this seemingly underhanded way that the later Cardinal Bernardin was able to generate sufficient votes to apply for an indult.
"Just days after the indult was granted to American parishes – to all parishes, not just those in which communion in the hand was already in evidence – printing presses went into overdrive pumping out small pamphlets in support of communion in the hand. These were distributed during parish Masses and in RCIA classes. A quick survey of these pamphlets and their cartoonish stick-figure illustrations reveal that they are riddled with historical inaccuracies and theological assumptions that are not well supported."
It's time for Marco Rubio to act.
We've reached a breaking point.
The President can make a proclamation under INA 212 declaring entry is detrimental to U.S. interests.
Rubio can pause all VISAs not just H1B and coordinate entry stops with DHS, until we figure out who the hell is actually in this country and remigrate all of them who lied on their applications.
Start acting within the full power of the law, and stop playing with these Judges.
Canon Moreau suffered a medical emergency during and after Holy Mass. In great physical distress, he prayed for "only the strength necessary to finish the Mass," and, out of love for his vocation and the Blessed Sacrament, completed the liturgy before seeking emergency care.
Please keep little Annelise Camp in your prayers. We must not dismiss the power of the human spirit of this little Angel, God's power and prayer.
I was given 0.5% chance of survival and against all odds, survived & thrived, after skiing head first into a tree at near 50mph.
Heartbreaking.

As Governor, I won’t measure our success by GDP.
Instead, we’ll measure it by
- how many young people are married and own homes.
- how many families can live on a single income.
- how many of our seniors can retire comfortably.
Another family cries for help: Marine veteran Michael Shomate ruptured a brain aneurysm and suffered cardiac arrest on May 26, and was declared brain dead less than 24 hours later.
(Even the American Academy of Neurology’s brain death guideline says you must wait at least 24 hours after injury to declare brain death.)
According to his wife, he is now being denied treatment even though he still has vital signs:
“My husband was in full recovery mode after the aneurism and three cardiac arrests with his body returning to normal levels. Now they are just letting him sit there with no treatment because they said you can't treat a dead body.”
Dead people don’t have vital signs — Michael Shomate is critically ill, but he is not dead.
