@Indian_Analyzer Btw, by exporting rice and sugar, we are literally exporting our water resources to the world of which we will face shortages in coming years for sure.
India is the world's largest supplier of gherkins(pickled baby cucumbers), having exported 181,452 tons to over 90 countries
Meanwhile, Punjab farmers refuse to grow anything other than water intensive MSP crops subsidized by taxpayers https://t.co/x1C92jzJnF
Interaction with a patient (who had googled about his symptoms)
Even though many doctors do not like patients who come with multiple doubts after googling about their symptoms, there is no way to avoid such patients. It is better that we accept this behavior.
31-year old Mr Rajesh (name changed) presented with headache (in occipital region) for 2 days. He googled about this symptom and he self-diagnosed these symptoms as due to brain hemorrhage (bleeding in brain). Obviously, he panicked and consulted me.
It would have been easy for me to brush aside his symptom and send him off. This would not have helped him much (as his anxiety would not have reduced).
I took a detailed history and examined him (clinical exam was normal).
I went on to explain about:
1. Possible cause of his headache (muscle tension due to excessive computer use and job stress),
2. Symptoms of brain hemorrhage (small and large bleeds),
3. Treatment options for brain hemorrhage (as he wanted to know about them),
4. Whether brain CT scan is needed or not (pros and cons),
5. Phone number (to contact), in case of emergency.
It took me about 10-15 minutes, however, his anxiety was relieved. I asked him to do isometric neck exercises, take intermittent brief breaks during work, sleep well and manage stress.
I am sure, his symptoms would be gone by the time he wakes up tomorrow.
Take away (for my junior colleagues)
We should be prepared to see more and more people who have googled about their symptoms or diseases, and be ready to allay their anxiety/fear.

Constructive criticism is always welcome but the fact that in 5 years 115 million households have received a tap connection, something that did not happen in 60 years after independence is not be scoffed at.

Abolish the municipality system, and let some competent entity manage the affairs of the city. It’s shocking that the most corrupt entity is in charge of stuff which affects our day today lives the most.
