We thank President Trump and @USTradeRep for prioritizing the issue of reopening China for U.S. beef, and for the positive & necessary first step of China renewing the expired listings of more than 400 U.S. beef plants. It is critical for China to lift all suspensions of U.S. beef facilities, and we look forward to working with the Trump Administration to reach this shared goal.
🧵🚨Here’s why #beef exports to China are a WIN-WIN for ranchers & consumers:
Historically, China has been a top 3 purchaser of tongues, tripe, & tendons + the #1 purchaser of hides & skins.
These products are rarely consumed by Americans who crave burgers, briskets, & steaks.
Meat Institute President and CEO Julie Anna Potts: Thanks to Eva Antczak for the opportunity to address the @Google Food Lab. And thanks to Eric Schulze and Bruce Friedrich for an excellent discussion.
🔥 I thoroughly enjoying chatting with Eric Schulze, PhD and Julie Anna Potts at yesterday's Food Lab at Google Summit. Bravo to Eva Antczak and the entire Food Lab team for a powerful two days of top notch discussion and networking. 🥳
I am incredibly grateful for Julie Anna's and the Meat Institute's attitude toward alternative meat production methods; this kind of focus on finding common ground and focusing on opportunities is incredibly important, and conversation is always good. 🙂

What a week in Washington, D.C. for our #EmergingLeaders during The Washington Experience!
From touring poultry operations at Amick Farms in Maryland and exploring the National Mall, to studying leadership and advocacy at Mount Vernon’s George Washington Leadership Institute, participants gained firsthand insight into the people, history, and issues shaping the meat industry.
The week wrapped up with visits to the U.S. Capitol and meetings with leaders shaping agriculture policy, where the group discussed key issues including nutrition, trade, and the upcoming Farm Bill.
Thank you to Sen. @RogerMarshallMD's office, the @HouseAgGOP, our program sponsors @cryovac and @EnvironCo, and all who helped make this an impactful week of learning, networking, and leadership development.
We’ll be in Kansas City for the Animal Care & Handling Conference, May 12–13! Proud to have our MRO equipment expert Ryan Malone presenting. We’ll also have Jarvis captive bolt equipment on-site for hands-on cleaning & maintenance training.

Really excellent narrative on the beef value chain and the many sections of the industry that play a role in bringing delicious, nutritious beef to American consumers.
I followed a hypothetical animal through the supply chain to explain why you're standing in front of a ~$7 pound of ground #beef at the grocery store.
(Unsurprisingly, the answer is complex. But spoiler: it's not the meatpacker.)
