So happy to finally share what I hope is the start to a long career in social EM. Huge thanks to everyone who made this possible 🎉

I can’t stop looking at this graph.
I read what the AAMC does… “The AAMC is dedicated to transforming health care through innovative medical education, cutting-edge patient care, and groundbreaking medical research.”
And then I think on how much money the thousands of income-less applicants pay to play the Match.
THEY are the ones to drive almost half the revenue for this massive, well-connected organization??
Major icky feeling.
What a week it has been for “The Resident Whisperer”
(don’t tell @JazmynShaw1 ) but another R2 solo flight in the books and @MedEdtweeter rocked it! And! - She handled moderate turbulence like a pro! (I was so scared)
Very grateful to have been selected as the @AAEMRSA Resident Committee Member of the year. I know I'm in good company with @ZoeC_16 being selected as the medical student recipient 🥳
Thank you to @LeahColucci for her fearless leadership and mentorship
TL;DR - New coding/biking guidelines emphasize the MDM above all else. If your patient has a social determinant of health impacting their ability to access care, it now pays to ask!
The latest AAEM/RSA Editor's Message by Dr. Alessandra Della Porta (@MedEdtweeter) is now available in the January/February 2023 issue of Common Sense.

We cannot express how proud we are of Dr. Pritts and Dr. Knight's leadership and thankful for the entire care team supporting Damar Hamlin.
As the region's only Level 1 trauma center, UC Medical Center is uniquely and expertly equipped for moments like this. #HamlinStrong
Preparing kids for procedures is a superpower.
But most people suck at it because they don’t have a strategy.
Here are 10 actionable steps to level up your preparation skills:
We want to recognize all our hardworking residents who are caring for patients, saving lives, and keeping spirits bright this holiday season! Tag @AAEMRSA to show us how your department is celebrating and we will continue to spread the cheer! #EmergencyMedicine#embound
'Jack of all trades, master of none' is often used to describe EM docs. But I think we are masters of quite a few things: Resuscitation, RSI, anaphylaxis, ordering CTs, undifferentiated shock, ultrasound etc.
What do you think EM physicians are masters of?
Just received some mail from my medical school that contained a letter I wrote to my future self as a first year medical student. The line that broke me?
"I can't wait to become the woman that you are"
Thank you @umiamimedicine for everything ❤️
7 of our residents hold positions on EMRA committees! That's >10% of our residency! When we say that we train current and future leaders in #EmergencyMedicine, this just some of the proof. These residents represent everyone from our interns to chiefs and we couldn't be prouder.
Had a blast representing the @emresidents simulation committee at ACEP2022!
Shoutout to Premature Anne (our sim mannequin) who was the real star of the show 👶
TLDR: Here is a framework for future emergency medicine research to retarget research questions and interventions away from individual patient factors and towards structural factors that lead to the disparities we see every day
Huge congrats to the team and heartfelt thanks to @Amyjwal for including me on this project
