For this kind statements, it's not Getachew or Birhanu Jula to be blamed it's the regime in #Eritrea & it's diaspora supporters. Even if #Ethiopia use it's massive army & economy to get sea accesses in to the Red Sea it can't achieve anything because global powers won't allow it.

In October 2025, Chief of General Staff Field Marshal #Birhanu_Jula framed the country's landlocked status as a question of fairness of a landlocked country for a country with a rapidly expanding population.

“Our population is now 130 million. In the next 25 years, it will reach 200 million,” Birhanu said during the 118th Ethiopian Defense Force Day celebration. “How can the interests of 200 million people be blocked for the benefit of a community of two million? It is not fair. It is not in line with international law, and it is not logical.”

Speaking at the Ethiopian National Defense College (#NDC) Annual National Security Conference on 25 June, Getachew contrasted Ethiopia's projected demographic expansion with what he described as Eritrea's shrinking population and institutional fragility, arguing that the changing demographic realities of the two countries are central to understanding the region's future security dynamics.
