Heatwave Awareness Session at Pak-Turk Maarif International Schools and Colleges Islamabad

With Pakistan currently under a severe heatwave alert, Helping Hand USA in collaboration with the Native Youth Club for Climate Change (NYCCC) organized a vital Heatwave Awareness Session at Pak-Turk Maarif International School, H-8 Campus, Islamabad, focusing on educating school children about the dangers of extreme heat and how to stay safe.
As our young generation is among the most vulnerable during such climate events, the session provided essential guidance on:
✅ Understanding what a heatwave is and why it happens
✅ Recognizing symptoms of heat-related illnesses
✅ Simple yet effective safety tips — like staying hydrated, avoiding direct sun, and wearing light clothing

✅ The connection between climate change and increasing heatwaves
This interactive session aimed to build early awareness among children, making them better prepared to respond to climate-related challenges.

The CEO of NYCCC, M Umair Mufakir @MUMufakkir7 alongside GS NYCCC @momalkhann and Tehreem had a remarkable and insightful meeting with representatives of various UN agencies including @UNDP_Pakistan , @UNICEF_Pakistan , @ilo , @UNFPAPakistan , and @UnescoPakistan at the @UNinPak Head Office, Islamabad.

During the meeting, the UN officials commended the impactful work of NYCCC in driving youth-led climate action across Pakistan. The discussion centered around exploring future collaborations to amplify our shared goals related to climate education, sustainability, youth empowerment, and community resilience.

We also had a productive dialogue on the upcoming Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) @youngo_unfccc Pakistan, highlighting its importance in building a strong national youth climate movement in alignment with global frameworks like COY and @COP30Amazonia .

We are truly grateful for the encouragement and look forward to building meaningful partnerships that create lasting environmental change. Together, we can shape a more resilient and climate-smart Pakistan!

We are proud to announce and celebrate the achievements of Ms. Aftab Tabasum, our esteemed Central Cabinet Member and Water & Soil Coordinator at the NYCCC.

Aftab Tabasum has been instrumental in advocating for sustainable and climate-smart water management across Pakistan. Her dedicated efforts in promoting drip and sprinkler irrigation systems reflect NYCCC’s commitment to conserving water, boosting agricultural productivity, and building climate-resilient communities.

We are thrilled to share that Ms. Tabasum is currently representing Pakistan in a prestigious three-month international training program on High-Efficiency Irrigation at Yangling Vocational and Technical College in China .

This achievement marks a significant milestone in her journey and in NYCCC’s broader mission to empower young professionals with the skills and knowledge needed for climate adaptation and sustainable development. Her participation not only uplifts our movement but also highlights the power of youth-led climate action.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Aftab Tabasum and express our deepest appreciation for her unwavering commitment to the cause. We look forward to the impactful contributions she will bring to Pakistan’s agriculture sector upon her return.
