Accountability post:
I want to finish a first draft of my duology by the end of the year. I’m currently at 33k words. 2k words a day on average. Give me strength. Or alcohol.
@t_j_davies 😂 Imagine being volunteered to teach maths without even applying! At least your debut novel has a dedicated promoter. Have you figured out who’s behind it yet?
@TJHall81 I’m sorry the rejection hit you that hard. But 1,690 words on a difficult day is still a win! Do you think you’ll feel better about writing once you’ve had a little time away from it?
@QuillElska That’s a huge milestone! Finishing your 10th novel must feel amazing. Are you already thinking about what comes next, or are you going to enjoy this one first?
Your story deserves a fresh pair of eyes!
As a beta reader and book editor, I help authors strengthen their manuscripts with honest, thoughtful feedback while respecting their unique voice.

Writers, let’s talk
What part of writing do you find hardest?
✍️ Starting the story?
📖 Building the plot?
🔍 Revising what you’ve already written?
And what’s one thing you’ve learned about your writing along the way?
I’d love to hear how other writers approach the process.
@ADoucetteWrites Under 138K and still tightening the pacing? That sounds like some satisfying progress! But now I’m curious about the Mercutio comparison. What makes Guild your Mercutio? And are you planning to get fresh eyes on the manuscript once you’ve finished revising?
@BWheelerBooks 1,700 words in one night?! You’re so close to that 20K milestone! I love seeing writers make this kind of progress. What’s Woods about, if you don’t mind sharing a little?
@KAWildeAuthor Maybe your ideas just have too much story to fit into a short story! I’m curious: what usually makes your ideas grow into something bigger- the characters, the worldbuilding, or the plot twists?
@DREAMING_KATT@xn45861659 Are you looking for someone to proofread it once it's ready, or would you also be open to having a Japanese translator review the translation itself?
@DREAMING_KATT@xn45861659 This sounds like a really interesting project!. Since the goal is to make it readable for Japanese fans, having someone who knows JP well review the machine-assisted translation could make a huge difference.
@Nyanegro@MarleyPeters123 Yeah, Google Translate can struggle badly with humor and cultural references. What languages would the game need to be translated between? Are you already looking for a human translator?
@slavamanzhin Absolutely! I’d be happy to give it a try. Could you send me the published chapter you’d like used for the test, and confirm the original language?
Your manuscript is growing, but are you still too close to the story to see what’s working and what isn’t?
As a beta reader and editor, I help writers get a fresh perspective on their characters, pacing, plot, dialogue, and overall reader experience.
@slavamanzhin Knowing both languages helps a lot. However, literary nuance can still be tricky. Would you consider having a human translator polish the English version, or are you planning to keep refining the AI translation yourself?
@BurdenWoundsTDM@ShitpostRock Nihongo first, then Spanish. That would be such a cool way to expand the light novel. Are you already looking for translators for those, or is that part of the plan?
@takaitana0310@memorizedtower That sounds really promising! If you and your co-authors are open to exploring an English edition, could we talk a little more about it in DMs? I’d love to hear what you have in mind.
