@SW_Policy_401 @YouTube Such a powerful and important message behind this video. The truth is, it is hard to know how our struggles compare to others, especially since we will all experience and process those struggles differently. This experiment brings a much-needed perspective to our differences.
@RhondaP15698905 There should be a calculated way to reopen. For as long as numbers are going up, reopening sounds counterintuitive. Waves of cases will continue to occur and this shut down will continue extending.
@UNDP@ASteiner@OECD@A_Gurria Considering how impactful COVID-19 has been to our society and economy, can you imagine the struggles being faced by many that live in impoverished countries? There are things that can be done!
@RhondaP15698905 This can be frustrating especially when an adult cannot perceive or be in tune with how to help their child. Helping kids process their experiences allows them to become more fully functioning adults.
There is some ugliness happening in our country right now with opposing sides for and against stay at home orders. It feels like we are on the brink of chaos. What can we do as social workers to help the collective?
@RhondaP15698905 This is heartbreaking considering our system was far behind before the virus. Family stress makes the environment torture for many kids without having access to someone that can help them. Mental health is important and funding is under allocated.
@TDeSouzaSocWork Great find! The type of effect isolation can have on a psyche is so great that isolation is used as a torture tactic. Keeping connections with loved ones becomes especially important throughout this time. Anxiety over getting sick could also be diminished through talking it out.
A call to congress is being made to address the increase in mental health needs that are arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic. Loneliness, isolation, fear of contracting the virus, financial concerns, and grief over lost ones must be met with the appropriate policies.
With everyone staying at home and the kids needing to be homeschooled, having a strategy, a calendar and a daily routine are essential to academic success and personal fulfillment.https://t.co/fktEdW0xy9
@CGardner4@ABC This seems like the logical next step to assure we are doing the right thing in getting back into the "real world" and the workforce without adding additional strain on our healthcare while working towards rebuilding our economy.
@paul_icatar Such an important topic and a crucial perspective to understand how this minority population is at greater risk due to their circumstances that were a direct result of ingrained racism.
A major problem violing civil rights is attributed to the "rogue" individuals that work for the government and abuse their power. Around the world, this exhibition of power may look much worst considering how regulations are enforced.
I have family and friends in healthcare and it is heartbreaking to hear of the sacrifices they have to make due to this pandemic. I feel forever grateful and appreciative of them. For them (and my family), I stay home. <3
It’s World Health Day, and we owe a profound debt of gratitude to all our medical professionals. They’re still giving their all for us every day, at great risk to themselves, and we can’t thank them enough for their bravery and their service.
A vulnerable population to this COVID-19 pandemic are all United States prisoners. With poor confined conditions, prisoners are at a real risk to catch COVID-19 without proper care and management. This is a population that cannot practice social distancing safely.
As hundreds of prisoners test positive for COVID-19, advocates say they must be released immediately to avoid prisons becoming mass grave sites. https://t.co/3URXvU7N6y
@CGardner4@nypost Constant connection with friends and family is definitely a very important aspect of staying sane during this quarantine. The majority of my family live in Puerto Rico and I live in Ohio, yet this has provided an opportunity for me to take the time to connect more with them.
@CGardner4 This is so scary! I have been using zoom a lot since the quarantine. Thank you for posting the article as I have now taken extra precautions with my settings.
It’s scary to think that our lives are dependent upon government officials. I’m glad that the Ohio and Puerto Rican governors (where my families live) have taken quick action and with strict enforcement. For many people, it may be hard to reconcile their experience as a reality.
Who the heck is advising Georgia's Gov? He says he only recently found out that "Those individuals could have been infecting people before they ever felt bad, but we didn’t know that until the last 24hrs"
Dr. Fauci was talking about that 2 months ago. https://t.co/DzLbeQFtJv
@paul_icatar I hope as the situation progresses, multiple stimulus checks are sent to continue to combat the economic decline. It doesn't seem that the presidential administration is treating this as serious as it should be, resulting in these very short term and insufficient solutions.
@CGardner4 It is of utmost importance to follow the guidelines by the CDC to protect workers. It is astonishing to me how companies continue to endanger employees considering this virus can take out their workforce and forcibly cause workers to have to take off anyway.
@TDeSouzaSocWork My ex and I have a friendly shared-parenting agreement and even with that, we are being super cautious and our girls have been staying with grandma for 2 weeks already. The process is painful for both but we understand it's for the best considering our work schedules and exposure
